ipad 2 upgrade to iOS9 failed and destroyed my iPad

So I got the alert from iTunes to upgrade my ipad2 to the new IOS9 today. plugged in the iPad to my Macbook, and now my iPad no longer works nor will restore. In fact it won't even respond after its screen request to connect to itunes. So Now this upgrade appears to have been responsible for killing my iPad that was working just fine prior.. How do I fix this or how is Apple going to fix what they did to my iPad?

Many, including myself, have updated their iPad 2 models with no issues.

iPad 2 is, now, a 6 year old device.

Was your iPad 2 either out of or very low on free data storage space?

You need, at least, 3 GBs or more of free data storage space to do a WiFi, over the air iOS upgrade/update.

Anything below 1 GB could result in a failed upgrade/update.

Since your iPad 2 was rendered defective, did the Apple Store offer you an out of warranty replacement iPad 2 for $199 U.S.D.?

For another $129, for $329, coming this Friday, you can order a brand new 32 GBs storage iPad model , that Apple just introduced today, that is head and shoulders above any iPad 2,3 or 4 model.

Please lead me to fix this issue:

I got IPad2 and upgraded over Air to iOS9. Then fail cannot slide to upgrade.

I have read here found need to reboot and plug to iTune to restore.

However my issue is, no backup.

How I can fix this issue?

When connect to iTune it askes me to respond to on iPad while I cannot slide the screen. So, I could not do anything.

Is there any way to fix?

Really got bad impression to this version.

I have tried the restore function. I can connect to itune. But I can't do the restore by itune, it told me to "Find My ipad must be turned off before "Shirely's ipadmini" can be restored. But I can't go to the main menu to do the set up since my ipad min stucked at the white screen of death "slide to upgrade" unresponsive. There is never a hint that tell use to turn off Find my ipad function before upgrade!

Complete FARCE BY APPLE.

MY IPAD IS NOW SO SLOW IT WOULD BE QUICKER WITH AN ABACUS!

cannot connect to game centre, been in the phone to apple support for 3 hours this afternoon.

In the end I had to restore to factory settings - then restore from back up and guess what? Still doesnt work properly.

top tip - DO NOT DOWNLOAD IOS9

thanks Apple for ruining my day and IPad

Looks like the caps lock key is borked as well.

My iPhone and iPad updated smoothly and are now faster than they used to be so I will see your suggestion and raise it with a DO DOWNLOAD IOS9

Your bet I think.

Exact problem here is the solution

ITunes will put you in endless loop of restore and update blah blah blah.................... but if you have taken backup before update then its fine but if update failed and ipad is in recovery mode and If you get error 9 or your ipad bricked stuck on recovery mode and you are not able to start ipad and iTunes is continuously failing to restore the ipad to previous state .If this is the problem then after wasting 2 days I used tenorshare reiboot and by god mercy I was at least able to get ipad back to original condition.

here is the link

Hi All,

I had some minor success. Plugged the iPad into my iMac. Hard Rebooted the iPad. As soon as the apple logo showed up, I held down the home button. This put it into recovery mode. iTunes prompted for update or recover. Update did NOT work. Put me back at the same place. However, when I chose recover, this worked partially. It does take FOREVER. I had to let it set for several hours while it recovered. Thankfully, iTunes did show messages that indicated that something was happening. The iPad doesn't show any change for a long time. I finally got to a point where I could restore from iCloud backup. After that, it was a few more hours, but the system came up. Now it's useable, but the restore hasn't worked. It shows under the iCloud settings that a restore is in progress, but it's been twelve hours now and nothing. We can use the iPad and download apps, but it's still not restoring correctly.

I'm hoping that Apple releases a .01 version soon that fixes this issue. In the meantime, the 2nd iPad stays on 8.41... 🙂

It probably is restoring. I restored from my iCloud backup day before yesterday, and it took 17 hours. You can track the progress by going into your Photos app. If you go to the Photos option, you will probably see that only a portion of those photos have downloaded. Check again in a couple of hours, and you should see that some more of them have loaded.

It is probably actually doing the backup. Are you restoring from an iCloud backup, and on your Slide to Unlock screen does it say "Restoring from iCloud Backup" just below the Slide to Unlock?

If so, check its progress by going into your Photos app to see if all photos are present under the Photos veiw. As you scroll up, you may encounter blank photos at a certain point. Note the date that the last viewable photos are showing. Check again in an hour and see if you now see photos going back further. If you do, then you know it is cranking along as fast as it can 🙂

Cheers,
