iOS 9 podcast app video in fullscreen

Before the update of the iPad to iOS9, it was possible to enjoy video podcasts full screen.

Now after the update, videos are played only in a small area of the screen.

Besides there are big bright white areas with controls and title.

Any one an idea how to switch to full screen?

On the iPhone it's a rotate to landscape which lets the video switch to full screen.

Unfortunately on the iPad this doesn't work.

Hope Apple will fix this soon.

Indeed. One of the primary functions of my iPad is for video podcasts. However, it is really unwatchable in the current state. I don't understand why Apple, from time to time, breaks something that was working fine. I would have rather had the previous version of the app. If I had known it was going to break, I would've considered not updating despite the security fixes.

I wish I could downgrade out of ios9. I'm extremely upset with the new podcast app, I wont be updating my iphone to ios9 and I will be putting any further purchases from Apple on hold. Why would I upgrade to the new iphone to use 1/4 of the screen. Is this why I need to buy a ipad pro to get the same video size as I already had on the ipad air? I feel like a sucker for not reading reviews before updating to ios9.

I trusted Apple.

Never again.

I left Windows for BS like this.

That is a good workaround and one which for the time being I will definitely use.

the only issue is getting the three finger double tap to work. That being the case I found it easier to enable the 'Controller' and place it at the foot of the screen. It allows you the same control methods including zoom levels filters etc only easier than the three fingers double tap method.

Hello,i couldn't find a solution to this annoying bug in iOS 9 . And there are also problems with doodle mode in the nee notes (doesn't exist in ipad 2) .

But as a student th podcasts are very important to me so I improvised at temporary solution which works fine.

All you gotta do is enter accessibility settings and go to ththe zoom functions. And you can set up it for larding to whatever magnifying level you want and activate with 3 fingers double tap.

Lets hope the developers in Apple will do theyre job because this is a very poor software engineering right there.

OH COME ON APPLE!! I'm in agreement with most - this is a MAJOR BLUNDER

Who the heck watches things like this. it's like the first time you had 16x9 movies on non 16x9 sets.

Worse than black bars on the screen in my opinion - and white is probably taking more battery life to show.

This zoom while interesting is not a good solution

FIX IT APPLE - and stop messing with Podcast app - except that maybe for once it would be nice to have video podcasts playing in background as well.

I too primarily use my iPad mini to view video podcast and this is an absolutely unacceptable waist of screen real-estate. With the white bars this will be downright unwatchable in a dark environment. To add insult to injury I also hate the new "list" view in the my podcasts section. Bring back the "grid" view or at least give a choice. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Of all of the built in IOS apps, the podcast app has always been the buggiest most neglected red headed stepchild of the family.

It is quite hard to understand for me how apple programmer responsible for podcast app upgrade for ios9 can remove full screen and his boss will approve that...that is key functionality of that app - showing iPad beauty as ideal device for videopodcast! Unbelievable.

Hope upgrade will come soon, podcast is tye main reason why I love iPad...
