"The loss of a feature slipped through testing implementing a new interface."
Actually it didn't slip thru anything. When IOS 9 was still in beta several bug reports where file on this. Yet they releases 9 without fixing it.
This should be dealt with immediately. In my company the customer is King. Such a set back would have triggered immediate action, and also an excuse to the customer.
I just downloaded the latest update released yesterday. This is the third "fix" of 9.0, and the bug is still not fixed. VERY unprofessional and arrogant. I have been searching for more than an hour, and have not yet ben able to find any response from Apple. Are they asleep, og have they given up.
Thank god for Microsoft. I am in the process of transfering all my accounts, data, mail etc. back to Microsoft. They are back in good form.
Thank you for taking time to add the screenshot as well as the zoom information. This actually enables me to watch in "full screen" with a bit of manipulation to find the start arrow🙂 I didn't even realize this was a result of the 9 update.
I'm on 9,1 (13B143) iOS now and it's still not corrected. Seems like this a huge issue they would have addressed immediately.
THIS WORKS! - Thanks again.
I'm glad you found my suggestion helpful. I like many others on this form were quite surprised to find this hidden "feature" of iOS 9. Personally, I've moved on and now use the Downcast app. It works like a charm and doesn't have the same issues that Apple's app use to have. For me, I listened to the podcasts on the way to/from work. Often when I'd get to work half way through a podcast. When I disconnected and then reconnected latest that day to drive home, the Apple podcast app would lose the place and start back over. Or worse yet, crash. The Downcast app has been rock solid and a vary EASY transition. I honestly don't work for home but have no reservations recommending the app. It's their only business and you know they will address an issue unlike Apple.
For me... switching and letting go of the apple frustration has let me move on and get back to enjoying my video podcasts! Good luck!
Has anyone noticed if the no full screen video bug on an iPad has been corrected in public beta of iOS 9.2? i don't know what the rules are as far as commenting on a public beta. I do not have access to an additional iPad and I won't load the beta on my only iPad.
Still frustrating this bug is still an issue after many iOS 9 updates.
No Ryan, they haven't fixed it yet. Since June sixth, zero, nothing. It is so **** frustrating that words can't describe it. I bought their flagship model and got screwed all over. I've for sure bought my last Apple product. From my iOS 9.2.2 public beta With no role back possible.
Wow. So effing annoying. That means the giant white bars and tiny video are intentional. Dang, Apple has some totally ignorant UX and UI rejects working for them. i really hope that is not the case, but I've got a bad feeling about this.
Installing ios9 on my ipad was the worst idea ever. I use my ipad almost only for video podcast.
The current Podcast app is simply unusable! Why should someone use an ipad to watch a video in iphone size? This simply makes no sense at all.
hope for a solution soon!
I would like to answer you but Apple Support community keeps removing my posts as non constructive. I just want my money back as they sold me an useless device that even can't role back to iOS 8. They used sixth months to try solve this little problem and guess what: not solved. My last product from Apple ever.
have you received a reply from apple regarding the full-screen podcast software problem? I just emailed them a complaint
as well
I've submitted this bug at least half a dozen times under the Podcast Feedback section.
Has anyone tried a video podcast in the Podcast app on the new larger iPad Pro? I'm guessing the bug would look even worse larger. Gigantic white bars, tiny video, lots of wasted screen. A UX/UI designers nightmare. 😉
what's frustrating is that everyone says "don't complain here - send a bug report to Apple"
Well, I've done that, and haven't heard a word from them - not even an automated response to say "we got it"
You really have to like Apple a lot....
Zip, zero, none.....they only remove my comments most of the time. Don't be unconstructive and critic of big Apple.
I just updated to the latest to b e c a (b e t a) 9.0.2-4, that's the sixteenth update since June, guess what still not a toss of a change. Tim Cook I want my money back. Tim C I want my money back.
I feel cheated big time. Can't go back to ios8 and having a device that have been rended totally useless. Not a word from apple on this issue.
We need to get the media on this Or mass class lawsuit. That's the only language they understand.
I just updated from 8.4 to 9.1 Thursday night, first watched a video podcast today (on Ipad Mini-original model), and am having the exact same model--those large white bars on top and bottom taking up most of the screen.
I searched for a setting or icon to go full-screen and cannot find one.
What idiot at Apple thought this was an "improvement"?
Isn't the point of an update to improve function, not make the product much worse?
I did not update to 9.0 or 9.01 or 9.02, figuring it would possibly be buggy. I thought the bugs would be worked out by 9.1 though. I see in this thread that this bug had been reported a long time ago in early betas of 9.0, and never fixed. ***?
Do Apple developers read these boards? If not, is there another way to complain to them about this, and other bugs?
So far, I have not encountered one improvement in 9.1 over 8.4, but various problems, of which this video podcast issue is certainly one.
Is it possible to regress from 9.1 to 8.4?
Yes, they filter any poster here. You make any critism of them, your post will be removed. Keep posting them though, as a 1984 style regulation style won't help. Tim Cook I want my money back. And yes I'm now on update 15 since June 8th and those buggers haven't solved it.
