Siri doesn't work (iOS 8 or iOS 9)

All,

I have an iPhone 6 that's several months old, and has been functioning just fine until recently. I think that it was with the last iOS 8.x update that I installed, Siri stopped working. Well, not completely. It works in my car when connected via BlueTooth - I can ask a question and get a response. However, if I'm not connected to my car, it just doesn't work. It constantly tells me that it didn't get what I said; shows me a list of the options that I can say, but it doesn't work. Dictation doesn't work either, as I can't verbally compose and email text message; it just doesn't respond when I speak. There are no microphone restrictions enabled.

To resolve the issue, I've blown out the microphones, speakers, connectors; reset Networking, turned Siri off/on, turned "Hey Siri" off/on, rebooted my phone, powered off my phone, and called Apple for support. They suggested that I do a Factory Restore, which I just completed to iOS 9, but Siri still doesn't work. Moreover, my wife is having the same exact issues with her iPhone 6! I'm at a loss as to what to try next.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Jeff

By the way, the Microphone does work, just in case you were wondering, as I can record Voice Memos, and use Shazam.

I have an iPhone 5S and downloaded ios 9 and since then NO sounds from Siri.. I have tried everything! I really think it is a bug from apple... I have the little moving line that you see when you talk and I get a Siri answer but when I hold the home button she used to say what can I help you with? I just get the wording of it and a microphone at the bottom with suggestions of what to ask her.. Even plugged into my car I dont get any sound... I used to that would prompt me to talk... I NEED HER TO COME BACK!!

Hi, it's definitely not a settings issue. Tried everything you could possibly think of, including updating to iOS9.1 beta and the problem still exists on my iPhone 6. Even todays latest update hasn't fully fixed the issue, especially when the phone is connected to my car bluetooth. apple needs to fix the problem.

Unfortunately this is how its gonna be un till enough people complain ,ios9.1 did not come with the fix maybe next update. Can not understand why they would not at least have given the option to turn in on or off manually. I said this before people with eye site issues are even more affected, I'm kinda getting use to it when not plugged in but most defiantly want it back.

We are having the same issue with the 9.1 upgrade. Siri dictation not working and Siri commands not working while recording audio does work. I believe this to be a hardware/software issue as it doesn't seem to be effecting everyone with 9.1. I have not had any problems, but a co-worker has the issue. We are both on iPhone 6 and on iOS 9.1.

When we plug in a headset it works perfectly.

Their device is a 64Gb while mine is the standard 16 Gb

Mine is on Verizon while theirs is Sprint

With Sprint they have the option to use WiFi for phone calls Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling - Apple Support so I am wondering if it is associated to any of these differences.

Thank you for trying to resolve/solve this issue.

PS. I agree that the option to turn the Siri beep on or off should be an option, but please keep those to a post related to that issue. This issue is that the mic is not listening for commands and dictations, but does record audio.
