Is iOS9 compatible with Mac OSX 10.6.8?

Hi,

I read that the latest release of iTunes on El Capitan supports iOS9, that made me worry tha, if I update my iPhone to iOS9 I won't be able to synchronise it to my old MacBook with Mac OSX 10.6.8.

Is that possible, or I can smoothly go on updating my iPhone?

Thanks.

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.1.3

I am in a similar situation. My 10.6.8 has been super great till now, and I am using a few programs that won't work well with new versions. Thus I am using carboncopy to make a 10.6.8 startup disk on a removable drive, before upgrading. Theoretically, I should be able to go back when I need to. I hope I am right.
I knew this day would be inevitable that Apple would twist our arm harder to upgrade. Pretty crappy on their part to do this with no warning on the iOS upgrade, but they have to keep everyone moving forward to become a trillion dollar company.

I just bought an iPod touch 5th because Apple's website said it would work with my 10.6.8 / 11.4 system. It didn't. After 2 hours on the phone with clueless tech help I finally decided to return it. I would have kept it if they could have reverted the system. I'm now sick of Apple strong arming people to upgrade instead of attracting people to upgrade. I think I'll keep my old computer and its apps. It does what I need. I'll get a linux machine or a chrome book to surf the net.
