Bug AirPlay Only sound since iOS 9

Having problems with Airplay and Apple tv 2 also. Looks like Apple tv 2 customers are screwed

Not sure if it's really a bug. It didn't work in the betas either.

Read online Apple has made a lot of under the hood changes to airplay to support higher security and the next release with TV OS. More than likely our older Apple TVs are indeed being phased out or at least requiring newest software upgrades. Kind of *****, I have three Apple TVs running 5.2 as well. I guess it's been a good five year run.

Having the same problem updated 7 ios devices to 9 and none work with any of the 3 apple tv 2 now. Audio only.

Same here : iPhone 5, iOS9, AppleTV2. Luckily i made it back to the iOS 8.4.1 and functionality restored.

I'm having the same problem with my upgraded iOS 9 devices, all audio no video being casted! 😟 Then for my iPad Air I haven't upgraded yet, only the video is streamed, no audio! 😟 I do hope they fix this! My Apple TV is barely a year old sigh, I'm not yet ready to upgrade to the new one.

Dear all, I had same issue. ATV2 and iPhones and iPads moved to iOS9 and only able to send dound to ATV2. I went to ATV settings upgraded to latest OS. Apperantly was not yet there, and now works! Hope it helps!

The issue I'm having is when my iPad auto locks the video cuts out then I press play on the Apple TV remote it's only audio. Switch off auto lock and problem solved.

You need to upgrade your ATV2 to the latest software. Apple has changed the Airplay protocol on IOS9 and requires the most recent IOS version of your AppleTV to send videos. This is (unfortunately) not a bug, and also an upgrade killer for me.

I have the exact same problem, when I play something from safari, and locks my screen the AirPlay stops when I restart it from lock screen it's only sound. I fixed it by not letting the screen lock. But that seems like a ******** way to fix the problem!

There is not update for the Apple tv 2. I have latest software and Airplay cuts out when locking the screen

This really ***** after upgrading to IOS 9. appleTV is not showing any video only sound, tried updating appleTV but no upgrade up to this moment.

Had the same issue with ATV 2 and iOS 9 on iPad mini 2. I followed "Restore your apple tv in iTunes" here: Restore your Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation) - Apple Support and it worked!

I Can't believe Apple have done this. We have three ATV 2'S bedroom, kitchen and one in lounge. Have been using them all the time to stream movies and YouTube etc daily with No problems past Two years. My wife and I updated our ipads and phones to iOS 9 and now when we try stream movies we only get audio coming through. This is so frustrating and absolutely infuriating why when something worked seamlessly now doesn't :-(. Our kids can still stream their phones and mini iPads as they haven't updated to ios9. But that's just ridiculous. Another issue is NOTES, my wife and I have used this standard app to keep all our abbreviated passwords, bank details and other important notes. Previously you could search what you were looking for eg. Yahoo, hsbc, Costa and it would take you straight to the note where the password could be recalled instantly. Now that function is gone. It searches it and shows in brief but when you click the link it doesn't take you to the exact note instead you have to scroll through all 100 plus notes to find what you want!!! Again why oh why. Why mess up things that just work so well :-( :-(

please sort it Apple this is unforgivable and making me so angry and frustrated that I feel like we will no longer be an apple loyal family!!!

I had the same problem but I looked for an Apple TV software upgrade (I had not done this before), upgraded and it seems to be working again with my iPad and after the recent ios9 upgrade
