iTunes 12.3 doesn't recognize proxy settings
An older version has no problems. Everything works fine. Since I installed iTunes 12.3.0.44 today it can't connect to the iTunes store.

I had this issue. I fixed it by actually typing in the proxy server's IP address. Eg, If in your LAN settings of IE states to use a DNS name, stick the IP address it resolves to.
iTunes 12.7.1 should work better with proxy servers.

Hello,
How did you solved your issue, if you did?
I could fix this problem strangely by following this :
http://ccm.net/forum/affich-278794-cannot-connect-to-itunes-stores
« I found this on another site and it fixed my problem: Opened iTunes. Clicked on Preferences and under Parental Controls disabled access to the iTunes Store.
I then checked the box to allow access to iTunes U. When I tried loading the store this time, it sent me directly to iTunes U with no problem.
I then went back into Preferences and enabled access to everything and tries reloading the store.
Voila. I can now connect to the whole store with no problems. Strange »
My problem appread with iTunes 12.7.1
I could solve it with the workaround i metionned above.
My workmates too.
Strange indeed then.

I realize this post is several years old, but the problem remains:
version 12.6.2.20
Symptom: iTunes does not connect to iTunes servers if a web proxy, specifically configured via a PAC file, is used. If an explicit proxy is configured, and the PAC file configuration is unchecked, iTunes will connect successfully.
I have a similiar issue with version 12.6.2.20
Currently any Update to iOS 10.3.3 will brick any iPhone (tested with the 6,6S and 7), when a proxy is in iTunes configured. I Repeated the test with 2xWin10 and 1xWin7 machines, which all did show this behaviour.
It's the same with iPhones that are stuck in Recovery Mode. They cannot be resetted to factory settings, when
a proxy is configured (iTunes will Timeout during the "checking the iPhone recovery" after the Apple Update Verification step).
The previous Update 10.3.2 works flawlessly.
I can connect and download from the iTunes store with our current proxy settings, so i guess the iOS Update 10.3.3 has a new authentification/verification step, that doesn't like the system proxy.
I know, that this is an enduser portal and Apple has an Bugtracker Site where stuff like this can be reported, but it needs an developper Account, which i simply don't have.
Me too! Works fine at home.
Same here.
iTunes stopped being able to connect after update to 12.3, I'm behind a corporate proxy.
Windows 7.
I also have this problem at the company. There is a solution I found but it doesn't work well.
At Internet Explorer (or system control panel) Internet settings at LAN connections you can adjust the proxy settings for automatic discovery and/or manual proxy address. You have to deactivate automatic part and fill in the proxy address to the space where it is required. However if I do this I can't connect to my Intranet. iTunes can connect to Internet though.
This has to be fixed, because not everyone has the rights to change those settings. (Because I have a company laptop, i was able to change it, whereas at the desktop of my colleague, he couldn't.)
Exactly: regardless the fact that there may be a workaround, it has to be fixed.
In my case, for example, there is an automatic configuration script which sets the proxy. Event though I could set it manually, there are a lot of other configurations the scripts sets, which must be executed for the PC to work correctly in the intranet.
Same here, we use proxy .pac file , now itunes can not connect to store and co.
So iTunes is now useless for us.
Same...
iTunes still unable to connect.
Any update?
