Issues with "Groups" in Contacts after iOS 9 upgrade

User uploaded file

Hello,

I am having two issues.

1. My groups in contacts are no longer in alphabetical order after upgrading to ios9. I have tried removing them via the iTunes sync and then adding them again and all it did was resort them in another random order - not alphabetical. Has anyone else had this issue? Do you have a fix?

2. Contacts used to remember which Group I had selected for viewing. Now, after ios9 upgrade, each time I go into contacts via direct or by "Phone", ALL my Groups are checked instead of the 1 group I had chosen, so ALL my contacts appear.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

iPhone 6, iOS 9

I downgraded to iOS 8.4.1 due to this issue. Same on iPad, too.

You all might want to check the contents of your Groups.

My iCloud has developed an issue where it is depopulating all of the Contacts out of the Groups they're in.

On my laptop all of the Groups are displayed alphabetically in Address Book but they are all empty. There are no Contacts in any of the Groups. That's 1,840 Contacts organized across about 200 Groups. That is: previously organized.

On my iPhone all of the Groups are displayed randomly & they also have no Contacts in them.

Apple is aware of this.

They said that Groups being depopulated is a known issue "sometimes" in El Capitan.

They are aware of Groups being displayed randomly in iOS 9.

Beware of 3rd Party Apps for organizing Groups. My depopulating issue began after a 3rd party app was installed at the Apple Store to see if it would display Groups alphabetically. No way of knowing at this point if that is what caused this to happen.

Waiting to hear back from Apple.

Groups in Contacts are listed in different order on different devices :

  • iMac (El Capitan) and iPhone 4 alphabetical with numbers before 'a'
  • iPad OS9 non-alpha jumble, numbers at end
  • iCloud (thro' browser on iMac) alpha, numbers at end.

Bizarre.

And no way to change the order of Groups anywhere.

This is a key test of 'everything in the cloud'.

First message, issued in 17 September, And to day 23 November...

There is no any solution. And my phone's 97 group still mixed and my daily life goes bad day by day...

Last year i read Steve Jobs' paragraph:

"It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and then tell them what to do;

we hire smart people so they tell us what to do."

Now i wonder, where are these smart people?

I think that they cannot anaylze the customer's basic needs...

Apple will start to go down after, Steve's heritage...

I'm on phone...again...with tech support and asked to be transferred to a supervisor who happens to be a Tier II Senior Advisor. She says that no one has elevated this to the importance of sending a request to engineering. Since I mentioned the magic words of "it's affecting my business", she has elevated it to the highest level. I find it interesting that so many people (even though a minority of the Apple Users World) have complained for so long (mid September) and this has not been identified as a problem acute enough to be elevated to engineering. She will be forwarding our communications to the supervisors of the other service people I have talked to earlier who did not elevate the case. And hopefully we will have a fix in the near future.
