Issues with "Groups" in Contacts after iOS 9 upgrade

User uploaded file

Hello,

I am having two issues.

1. My groups in contacts are no longer in alphabetical order after upgrading to ios9. I have tried removing them via the iTunes sync and then adding them again and all it did was resort them in another random order - not alphabetical. Has anyone else had this issue? Do you have a fix?

2. Contacts used to remember which Group I had selected for viewing. Now, after ios9 upgrade, each time I go into contacts via direct or by "Phone", ALL my Groups are checked instead of the 1 group I had chosen, so ALL my contacts appear.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

iPhone 6, iOS 9

I downgraded to iOS 8.4.1 due to this issue. Same on iPad, too.

The random order to the group listings has been reported back when iOS 9 was rolled out. I noted it in every beta version, I believe there were 5, before iOS 9.1 was rolled out. They are more than aware of it, but for some reason rolled out another update without fixing the alphabet issue. But hey, at least they figured out the long awaited middle finger emoji!! Geniuses are working hard to kill what Steve Jobs built. There hasn't been any substantial improvements to Apple products nor to operating systems in my opinion in a long time. I'm almost thinking of going to Windows products and possibly droid based. ****, I'd settle for my old Blackberry right now.

This morning I updated my iPhone 6 to iOS 9.1 expecting the sorting error of the contact groups to be solved. Even though the Apple Support promised a bugfix for the next iOS update they did not solve it with 9.1.

After the successful update to 9.1 I deleted all my nearly 1,000 contacts and re-synchronized with Microsoft Exchange. The error persists. My frustration continues.

I have only a few groups and after reviewing them I think I see a pattern. The groups appear to be sorted in the order you created them. One brute force solution would be to delete the groups and then recreate them in alpha order. A real pain for those with many contacts, but until Apple fixes this it could be a solution.

It is not guaranteed that this helps. I created two new groups in iCloud and they showed up in different order on my two iPhones (6 and 4S) which are both synced with the same iCloud account although according to your (and my) logic they should show up in the same sequence. So before going brute force you should better first test more thoroughly if it really helps on your phone.

Did the new group show up last on either of the two phones?

Yes, they showed up at the end of the list but in reverse order on both phones. But I tried only with 2 groups. I also noticed that it took quite while before the new groups would show up on the phone while new contacts or changes to them show up nearly immediately after editing in iCloud. So there seems to be something deeply wrong with the groups. That's why I gave up testing further approaches.

I Have the same problem and it is very enoing! This is serious bug and I don't know why Apple didn't solve it already!

I have a lot of contacts and couple of groups, so I need to have only one group selected, but this is not possible, when I do it, iOS automatically make all groups selected !?!?? How much time we need to wait that Apple fix this?
