Iphone 6 gray bar blocking text box after ios 9 update??

I updated to IOS 9 this morning and when i try to text there's this gray bar extending through out the text box with "0:00" at the end, I cannot get rid of it and I cannot see what I type as I'm typing. Also, when I go to send a text to a new person, it does not appear. This happened after updating to ios9

I was able to resolve this issue as well by enabling "Hey Siri" on my iPhone (I had reset my device for a different reason and had neglected to enable Siri).
