Since updating to iOS9 I've noticed it prohibits the ability to select more than 2 pictures from your camera roll to add to another photo album you've created. If you select more than 2 pictures and press "add to" to try to add it to another album the photo app closes. This was possible in iOS 8. Why does it do that? I have an iPhone 5s.

What app on laptop would I use to do that? I usually just email pictures to myself when I need them on my computer.
You export them out of the Photos library via the File ➙ Export Unmodified Original menu option:
It doesn't look like my Photos application on my Macbook Air can even see the photos in my iPhone 5. I checked out the option to sync photos but it looks like it wants to sync all the photos on my computer onto my phone which would be a disaster.

Try using Image Capture (located in the Applications folder) to download all of the photos from your iPhone..
The plot thickens... I managed to import everything in both Photos and image capture, but couldn't find an option to export them from Image Capture, and now I can't open Photos because it needs an update, and I can't connect to the app store. I'm hoping these are all just bugs that will be fixed. I can live without adding pictures to albums for now. Weird. Thanks again.
Using Image Capture where did you download the image files to?
Ok, they are now on my computer in a folder labeled pictures. So that was successful. After switching from using my hotspot to using wifi, I can connect to the app store but it says the Photos update is unavailable at this time and to try again later, which is what it's been saying for about a week. I hadn't worried about it because I'd never used it. Bizarre.
Make sure other are no copies of the iPhoto application on your boot drive or on any connected external hard drives. Then go back to the App Store and look under the Purchased section.
I don't know how to look at my boot drive- where would I find that? I don't have an external hard drive.
Go to the Finder ➙ Preferences and check the following boxes:
Now your boot drive, called Mac HD by default will show up on the Desktop.
To find all possible copies of iPhoto.app on your drive first do a search in Spotlight for iPhoto.app.

If it isn't iPhoto 9.6.1 move it to the Trash bin in the Dock, go to the App Store and look under Purchased section for iPhoto 9.6.1.
Done. But it still says my iPhoto version is 9.6 and the app store isn't coming up with updates. Thank you.
