Apple TV keeps crashing NON-STOP!!!

i have the same exact problem with playing netflix. crashes in the middle of a movie, and takes me back to home page each time. crashes at least 4 times in one movie. looks like this is being neglected so for long. hopefully Apple and Netflix work together to solve this soon. can somebody please take this problem seriously. I have ATV4 with 32GB I bought recently.

Hi. On Apple TV 4, the NetFlix app is supplied by NetFlix. You should really let them know on their website. Since you pay for the service, you have every right to complain. You should also make sure your internet access is reliable, particularly the DNS.

Latest update (couple of days ago), seems to have solved the issue in all apps, at least for me. On Apple TV 2.

The same day that latest IOS and tvOS updates were released (December 12th) , Apple also updated Apple TV 3 and 2 software. On Apple TV 2, this latest update seems to have fixed the longstanding self-reboot issue, when watching Netflix or Hulu.

The latest (afaik, for atv2) 6.2.1 firmware was released in 2014, so not sure what you found the other day?

That's the first thing I did when I saw your post - nothing. Interesting. Would it be region-related? You sure you were on 6.2.1 in the first place?

It looks like juan is definitely right about Apple TV 3. There's a new 7.2.2 version based on iOS 8.4.2. See About Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation) software updates - Apple Support. I cannot see any advance on 6.2.1 for ATV 2, but it might be a stealth update, a new build with the same version number.

That´s it, thank you very much, Diana. God, my English is terrible. You need to restore the Apple TV 2 with iTunes to get it, it´s the same 6.2.1 version number but a new build. I suspect it have been released in order to prevent a possible 6.2.1 untethered jailbreak, since a tethered one was possible since last year October.

Anyway, stability when streaming HD seems to be back to pre-6.2.1 levels, no crashes, and no reboots so far for me on Netflix and Hulu. Despite this, is still highly recommended to log out from iCloud and choose default screensaver to prevent further reboots, due to the little RAM available on the device

Also, turning off iTunes Match, seems to help overall UI smoothness

1): Turn off iCloud (from settings menu)

2: Turn off any custom screensaver

3: Turn off iTunes Match.

Apple TV 2 crash-free again! 🙂
