iOS9 Spotlight search not finding contacts

This solved my problem as well. Be careful, when I sent my problem to Apple per dhruvinthakkar's suggestion, they told me to send in my relatively new iPhone 6 for replacement.

I just chatted with support, and the only thing that fixed was to RESET ALL SETTINGS (not any data).

I, too, was able to get immediate support from Apple on this via Chat.

The solution that worked for me on my iPhone 6 was to swipe left to right on the first home screen to show the new "Siri Suggests" side screen. Once I searched for contacts in THAT search box, my Contacts showed up first. This was the recommendation from Apple Support and it worked first try.

Now, when I search from the Spotlight search on ANY screen, as I did in the past, the Contacts work as expected.

I feel this is still bug related, not "feature" related, but this work around worked for me right out of the box. Hope it works for everyone on this list as well.

I did not have the same good luck with my iPad 3, because there are a number of features that were not included on the older devices. The new side screen is one of those things.

I spoke too soon. It has not resolved the problem.

I Tried all the methods on a bunch of forums. No solution seems to be fool proof. All pretty flakey.

One solution that see to be working for me was to disable all options in spotlight settings. Shut down and restart. Then enable contacts only.

Same problem. I solved it by shutting down all the spotlight switches in Preferences/General/Spotlight. Then restart the phone by pressing Home and Side buttons at the same time.

Finally, toggle on only the contact switch in spotlight. Wait for a few minutes and all the contacts must appear now.

Later, you can enable other searches if you want.

I hope this can solve the problem to anyone.

Had same problem andI found the solution to this as follows:-

1.Go to settings

2. General

3.Reset

4. Reset Location & Privacy

warning comes this will reset your location and privacy settings to factory defaults

click "Reset Settings"

and then magic !

all the contacts are serachable in spotlight.

try it and see.

Nop!! Tried reseting the Location and Privacy settings too.. But still the same.. it shows some contacts only.... 😟

very simple solution. Just open your contacts app once, and spotlight will start finding your contacts.
