IOS 9 - how to get rid of or turn off Game Center

I recently upgraded to IOS 9. Game Center has reactivated itself; issues pop-up messages and enables people to "challenge me". I do not want this - I find it annoying.

How do I disable Game Center, or at least turn it off?

iPhone 5, iOS 8.3, Also iPad

Yesterday, I updated my iPad 4 to iOS 9.02 and now I'm getting Game Center pop up nags when I play my Scrabble App. Game Center is turned off on my iPad and I don't have the cellular data option as my iPad is WiFi only. Btw, I did a clean restore and update on my iPad.

I'm wondering if it's the Build that I got for my particular area. I'm in Ontario, Canada.

I've submitted Feedback to Apple. Please do this also so that we can get this fixed.

No offense, but that isn't a solution. It is apparent, now, that many 'features' in IOS9 are actually ill conceived little methods by Apple to further monetize their 'free' operating system. You see, it isn't really free. It's like a hungry little beast constantly pushing you to feed it. It eats money. Your money. I suppose this particular 'feature' (beating the IPad owner over the head with Game Center) is designed to get you to sign up for it, become more engaged in the 'game' thing and buy stuff. Right? And, what other appliance do you own that is so annoying? Certainly not the good old coffee maker, or the crock pot. And, as it turns out at my home, not my Surface or Asus Android tablets. So now my Grandson and I give those the bulk of our time because, as he said (he's five) 'grandpa, game center pop ups are boring'. Brilliant! The IPad sits there but he just doesn't turn it on much.

LOL, my numerous Feedback to Apple goes to Cloud Neverland.

Since downgrading to iOS 8.4 is forbidden and impossible unless someone figures out a hack (one day some bright hacker will), we are stuck with annoying new bugs with each update.

The best thing to do when you update and the Game Center bug is finally squashed, don't bother updating the iOS anymore. Your apps will still work for quite some time. You most definitely will get continuous Apple nag notifications to update, but try to resist lol.

I bought my iPhone and iPad outright and it wasn't cheap and I want it to "JUST WORK" like Apple used to claim. I expect better iOS testing by Apple software engineers before being release to the general public. It's quite disheartening to constantly be searching for fixes for new bugs introduced. We are unable to access iOS file system so there is only so much we can do.

Here's what has worked for me, one day after the "fix":

1) Sign into Game Center (Be brave!, ha)

2) Go to the "Games" tab.

3) Slow swipe a game on your list.

4) "Remove" the game's data from your device.

5) "Cancel" the offer to remove the game from your device.

I still get a "welcome back" message from GC in my games, but no more pestering to sign into GC.

Be sure to send Apple feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html (or .../ipad.html)

Good luck!
