Game Center not working since upgrading iPad 2 to iOS 9

Since updating to iOS 9 have been unable to load Game Center. The application starting in its own just leaves a white screen.

if you select Game Center from the settings menu, just get a spinner.

this prevents a number of games loading.

similar issue reported here http://forums.imore.com/ios-9/340783-i-downloaded-ios-9-now-game-center-doesn-t- work-what-could-problem.html

the iPad has created its backup since the installation, so do not feel like doing a factory reset yet.

Just to update:

After reading that people were having success restoring their iPad as "New" in 9.0.1 (not using a backup), I decided to give it a try. I had nothing to lose since I had already restored as New using 8.4.1 on Sep 20. Yes, Game Center works perfectly in 9.0.1 when I restored as New without using a backup. Clearly something is wrong and we shouldn't have to go through that to play our favorite multiplayer games. However, for those that are willing, restoring as New in 9.0.1 does work.

Playing Clash of Clan on iPad 2 with IOS 9.1

Opening GameCenter results in a white box that just sits there for several minutes until the screen finally opens. At first I had troubles with screen freezing until I tried not touching anything once I selected GameCenter. Now it does open up in time and everything seems to work well. Just slow as heck.

Playing CofC when I open the game on my iPhone 6 with IOS 8 I almost immedialy get a welcome banner acknowledging my Gamecenter username. On my iPad 2 with IOS 9.1 I can play the game for several minutes and then the screen locks up and then I receive the welcome banner from Gamecenter. Once loaded the game runs fine but it seems to pop up and freeze the screen at the worst times. When I had IOS 8 on my iPad evertthing worked just fine and Gamecenter and CofC behaved the way they still do with my IPhone.

Not sure who needs to fix it but something needs to give.

I tried this process with my iPhone 5C it works Game Center is not white, logging out of Apple, and iCloud, and Erase All Settings or Reset Network Settings. And signed back into Apple and iCloud. It still freezes when I go to load Game Center from Settings. Or loading Game Center from app its all white. My iPad 2 is not working but my iPhone 5C is working on Game Center. The next solution is the Apple Store comes up with a new app or an update that is compatible to the tablet for iPad 2. They need to work on this. The games I am playing freezes, the only game that does not freeze Megapolis HD and they sent me an iOS 9 update package for the game. I can log back in and the game will load.

OK Lonewolf, here I am once more! I just DL the new 9.0.2 IOS. Upon completing DL, I turned OFF my iPad 2, after 15 minutes...I turned it ON. Gues what! Same excate issues Still exist! Only now my Safari is filled with lag, n crashes if I'm on too long. Sorry Apple I'm...not amused any longer, it's been 12 days since I loaded the 9.0 IOS, I haven't seen Game Center nor half my game since! I don't use the pad2 for anything but my gaming, this old device can be replaced, but I wont do it with a Apple unit! So I'd suggest you people Fix the Game Center real soon!!!

I Have the same thing on my iPad 2 and on iOS 9.0.1 . My Game Center is white screen and going into it on settings just crashes. My linked games don't open. I spent 2 hours on to support on Sunday and I'm no further forward. I've sent diagnostics to them too. Interestingly I've also got an iPhone 5c on the same iOS and it doesn't have an problems with Game Cente. Really confusing. My son's iPad mini and iPhone 5 work fine on the same iOS update too. Seems completely random.

I do realize what you've tried and maybe this is redundant but try it anyways since after updating iOS, it may require some additional steps:

If you can, sign OUT of Game Center & your Apple ID / iTunes Store

Disable auto-set of your clock: Settings/General/Date & Time/Set Automatically, move the switch to OFF

Then do a device restart:

Force Restart (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)

1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.

2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.

3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

After the device has restarted:

Set your clock back to auto

Sign in to your Apple ID

Sign in to Game Center

Thanks for giving me something else to try. I have now tried this, the main problem is I can't sign in or out of Game Center at all. Have tried as suggested, but this has still not made any differene. My Lock screen time out is on 5 mins, and it has just locked out with the spinner on Game Center in Settings. On the Game Center icon on the home screen, it is still just a white screen.

I have the same issue on my ipad2: Game Center is a blank white page (white screen of death?!), freezes in settings, won't let me play my games that connect to friends. I put in a trouble ticket to Apple and they had the nerve to write back that I was using prerelease software! I installed iOS 9.0.1 and now just installed the latest 9.0.2. No Change!! I'm very frustrated...

Since Game Center is apparently open/running but is just a white screen, have you tried closing it off from Multitasking, then re-opening it? Also close off the Settings app as well...

Double-tap the Home button which will bring up the running apps icons (at the top) along with an app screenshot below the icon. Tap-drag the app's screenshot (NOT the icon) up and off the screen. Wait ~30 seconds for the app(s) to fully close.

Force restart the device as outlined in my previous post.

Try and run Game Center again using the Home Screen icon. Also see if Game Center in Settings locks up again.

I don't expect anything much but at this point for you, anything is worth a try.
