After upgrading to IOS 9 I am unable to search for historical emails.

I Tried and what I am missing is all of my email folders, which contains many important information. We can retrieve deleted email or photos but not the folders there is no way to retrieve them. OMG all of my purchase information in one but then there are more folders wit very important information. I don't know what to do but since the first IOS9 they wanted us to download and I did I lost all of my identity and password information and I couldn't get in to to many things including all my games. I worked on it for hours before contacting Apple. After that was worked out I was told that the bug fix was coming the next day, then I lost all my folders. If let's say I deleted them by accident how I wouldn't know but let's just say that happened, there is no where or know way of me or you I think I'm told to retrieve the folders no where to go to find deleted folders also, unless some out here can help me. I really am lost, upset, and now stressed. I have a couple of emails in my folders that are from President Obama and Michelle, plus a whole bunch of senators and congressmen and woman all about the work I had done for many on issues. ALL gone and no where to go to retrieve them like you do on my laptop,or my emails here and photos here by going straight into delete or trash to get them. I am so very upset and I hope Apple will one day correct this problem because even today for a few hours they couldn't find a solution. Can someone out here give me information how it can be done. Thank You Michelle 😢
I just discovered that if I wait 20 to 30 seconds the search result will actually appear. It is odd as this is performing much different since IOS 9. I would be curious if others are in fact getting their search results if waiting, let's say 20 to 60 seconds.
I Did try and wait and it did work finally but took about two minutes or more. But it did work. Thanks!
Well, after the last two posts, I gave the sputtering search engine more time. After something more than two minutes, that blue progress bar staggered to life and returned a result. So, I concur with these last observations.
But I am compelled to say that a search engine that takes over two minutes to work is definitely broken. Apple does have work to do.
3 of our phones cannot search emails after the update. It is very frustrating.
I'm in the same sinking boat. The searches of my email folders on the iPhone 5 take over a minute on average to return results. This has been a big step backwards and I'm ready to revert back to IOS 8 while I still can until they fix this.
Thank you! It works for iPad too!
Well I no longer have the problem with the slow searches. All I did was do a Restore and then an Update from Backup. (make sure you do a backup if you don't have a recent one so you don't lose any of your mail settings, apps etc). It will automatically install the latest ios version.
Now all my searches bring up results within 5 seconds like they used to. Here is a link:

I can only assume something got messed up on my initial upgrade to ios 9 and it had to be redone.
Has anybody discovered a reasonable workaround for this yet?
I was hoping the latest update would solve the problem but it is the exact same. This issue is rendering my email basically unsearchable. It's ridiculous.
The calendar issue drives me crazy too, but try a double-tap on the day. It's silly to have to do it, but it usually works for me.
Yeah forget about my "solution". The Restore and Update of ios 9 did not make a difference after a couple of days of doing various searches. It's slow again. :-(
same issue here, with an iPhone 4S. Everything seems relatively slower but working, especially mails search: about a minute to display results that used to pop up instantaneously before...
Fortunately, since updating to iOS 9.1, the "slow mail search" issue seems to have resolved itself for me on my iOS devices.
Many thanks to all the posters about the iOS 9.1 "fix". I will now update.
But you can be sure that I will not be an early-adopter of the " self-driving car " when it hits the market!!!
When I do a search it gives me emails from 2014 instead of the most recent! Fix it, Apple!
