HOW TO DO IT?: UDF video format convert to a format for FCPX in full resolution?

I have a DVD with a video on it. The format is UDF. I need to bring the video (with full resolution HD) into my iMac for editing in FCPX.

When I drag and drop this file onto the iMac I then dropped it into Audacity it is converted to a file size of 480 instead of HD which it was filmed in.

Yosemite OSX 10.105

Audacity 2.0.6

DVD info:

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

This is a regular DVD. It not HD video.

If you can you should use the media from the camera or SD card, that is the original HD material.

Success!!

The SD card worked. I was able to drag and drop from the SD to the iMac easily. The quality is HD 1080p and the hum from the audio is gone.

TThat's probably not the right way to do it. You shouldn't drag and drop from the SD card. You should use the import function to import from the SD so the files are processed correctly.

It was dragged to my external hard drive, opened the file in Quicktime, the Trimmed the section I needed then saved that clip.

Does that work?
