spotlight search iOS 9 contacts not showing in results

I upgrade to iOS 9 this week excited about the new search feature. The only thing I used spotlight for on iOS 8 was quickly pulling up a specific contact. It seems Apple has created a iOS that returns everything except the obvious result I'm looking for and when I search for a name everything under the sun returns except the contact card I am looking for. I feel like it should be called "unnecessarily complicated and unintuitive search." Is anyone else experiences this? Does anyone have a fix?

Not working.

and its very erratic. Some times it does not even show the most frequently called numbers and shows up the never called numbers as top hit!

Also the left flick from home screen brings up the spotlight search but without the keyboard! I have to extend my thumb and enter the search window to bring up the keypad!

Such a glaring miss!!

This update 9.02 is really a mess.

Desparate for the bug correction update.

After opening the stock Apple IOS "Contacts" APP Do what "EmmyLouO" stated which I reposted below:

"When I tried this .... After clicking on Groups in the Contacts App I also had to:

  • Hide All Contacts
  • Done
  • Show All Contacts
  • Done

I did have success after applying this additional couple of steps (that were suggested by Chris at AppleCare). Good Job, Afriel and Chris! Thanks so much!"

At this point I'm thinking it's because I only have google contacts. It's so buggy at the moment with 9.0.2. Because I only have gmail contacts, there is no group in contacts. It finds some, but not all names. AFAIK there is no way to fix this currently other than to only use iCloud or manual syncing with contacts. Google contacts may not have been tested enough.

ajg23, Even on 9.1 beta if you click one of the contacts groups off it takes them all off like you chose "hide all contacts" that is definetly a bug. however 9.1 beta had fixed the spotlight search for contacts so if you havent tried the beta ios 9.1 i would try it.

Aron Nelson,

I have google contacts/groups in my phone and they are all working in spotlight on beta 9.1

After I went to beta 9.1 all i did was delete one exchange account (my work) and then add it back in. I didnt touch my google account.
