spotlight search iOS 9 contacts not showing in results

Same problem here and nothing can help me. I think this bugs should be fixed by apple ASAQ.

I had the same problem, after going through loads of steps, decided to try this and it worked for me, hope it dose the trick for all of you

step one: setting/ general/ spotlight search "turn of all manually"

step two: setting/ general/ spotlight search "turn it back on manually"

I finally got mine to work. After disabling all Spotlight Search options except Contacts, I added a brand new contact via my phone. I turned the phone off and on, seached for my new "test" contact and finally it popped in. I recall needing to search for my new contact a couple of times, it's weird I know. My real contact searches now work as well. It seems like it was critical to add a new contact in and do a full reset, but now it works.

this is so stupid.. sometimes searching a contact works, sometimes it doesn't. i've given up on spotlight, and now just using the contacts app to search my buddies.

APPLE!!?? Where is this fix? If asked what the #1 function need is for my phone, it is to find a contact and make a call or text that person!! FIX THIS!!

FOUND A FIX: Updated to iOS 9.1 beta. I had this issue on iOS 9 public release, but the beta for 9.1 shows contacts just fine.

iOS beta program is now a PUBLIC program, available to everyone not just devs.

But Lizard why would we want to go to an incomplete and not fully tested iOS version? Oh that's right that's what iOS 9 was (d'oh!!!)

Oh and just to add some data and not just be snarky I tried the turn off spotlight fix, add new contact, reboot and that, unfortunately, didn't work for me BTW, I also did notice inexplicable search results as well.

Worked for me too by :

Switch off all SPOTLIGHT serch sources except CONTACTS

Switch off phone (6S) with HOME and POWER switch at same time

After restart add a new test contact

All are then found

Then restart

Then reenable all other search sources

By the way the new test contact must have a phone number, if deleted as contact then the problem reappears.

If you keep it in contacts all old contacts are found in search.

This works -- I also created a new test contact on my phone and it seems to force spotlight to now search my contacts, not just by name, but also in the notes associated with the names. Thanks!!!

I saw a suggested fix in another thread - in Settings > Spotlight Search, turn Siri Suggestions off and on again. Seems to be working for me (so far).

Possible Fixes:

I did a combination of the following and it worked for me (albeit, it took a solid 5 minutes for the Search function to even come back).

1. Soft reset (hold side button and home button if you are unaware of this handy tool.)

2. While Search is rebooting (for some reason, it takes awhile?), open Contacts up.

3. Clicked "Groups" and unchecked all the contacts and rechecked them.

* I have NOT restarted my iPhone since upgrading last week until today.

** The search function takes awhile to reboot as I mentioned above - unsure if this is a one and done thing every time you restart

*** I left the contacts app open in the background while it was all rebooting.

I have the same problem, i hope Apple fix ASAP
