Force restart the phone. No data will be affected when you do this. To force restart your device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

My son, my wife, and I have all had this problem. I had multiple long sessions with Apple, which were no help. Frustrated beyond belief, I cycled the on/off/wake/sleep push button many times and guess what, functionality was restored. The problems does come back, but cycling the switch rapidly does seem to clear what ever error is jamming up the touch screen. Both my son and wife have used this technique to recover use of their phone. Two are iphone 6's and one a 6+ with iOS 10.3.3 (14G60).

Hope this helps. Easier than a reset.

I have this problem multiple times during each day. Sometimes my iPhone 6+ responds to a hard reboot, and sometimes it does not. Yesterday after multiple attempts to make the screen light up by doing hard reboots, it just sat on the table and repeatedly did the double-buzz that indicates power connection. It still would not turn on. I plugged the phone into the USB on my iMac and iTunes could not find it. Then it found it. I did the online diagnostic and resynced. It worked the rest of the day with the new iOS update installed. Today, it refuses to light up. So I press the wake-up/enter button, then the power button, then the wake-up button, then the power button, and finally I get an unresponsive screen that looks blurry and out of focus. Then I received a phone call, but couldn't answer it because the screen was unresponsive.

In short, a hard reboot does not solve this problem for me. I'm sending the phone off to Apple for repair and expect to be without a phone for the next two weeks. I have not had a problem with an Apple product since I began using them in 1983, so I guess there's a first time for everything.

Have had simular problems with my 6+ phone. Went to Apple store last week and was told 6+ phones were shipped with "faulty operating boards". So far neither Apple or AT&T has offered a reasonable solution to this problem. Apple wanted me to buy a new phone and At&T wanted me to pay an early termination fee and then purchase a new phone. Was just wondering if Apple fixed your phone fixed your phone.

I'm having this problem, too, with my iPhone 6 Plus. I have forced reset it. But the screen still intermittently becomes unresponsive, sometimes for more than 30 seconds. I also have restored the whole phone, putting it to factory settings, and the screen still intermittently becomes unresponsive. Also, often when this happens, I see a gray flickering small bar at the top of the screen. What is going on? I've only had this phone for a year.
