OS X Server 5.0.3 update broke web services

After the updates no websites can be accessed anymore at all.

Websites service shows green light but displays the following message:

"Users may not be able to access websites from the Internet"

Does anyone have any ideas of how to restore service?

I originally used MMV's Wordpress script to install Wordpress.

The Mac Mini running Server is housed in a data centre, so I currently have only remote access to it. VPN and Email seem to work just fine.

Update with the OSX 5.0.4 server version...

I took the plunge and did a remote update on my server from Yosemite to El Capitan, my server is some 4000 miles away with little chance of a quick and easy re-boot if it went wrong... but...

1. After the update - which went perfectly, with the correct DNS settings being put in by the update, which is a big fix from Apple, all is going well.

2. Even though I did the Wiki fix (in this post) before the update to El Capitan, I noticed this was over written, so I applied again - again - all is now fine.

3. I note that server app 5.0.4 under El Capitan works very well, much, much faster (mail just fly's alaong like never before, as do most of the other services - excellent news). To be honest, it looks like server app 5.0.4 is written and tuned for for El Capitan - even though is it supposed to work on all OS versions...

4. After the update to El Capitan, DNS settings are all returned to normal - someone is listening to our needs :-)

My advice, do a backup - upgrade to server app 5.0.4, run this to do the data upgrade, then upgrade OS to El Capitan, then run server app again (it does another update), then do the wiki fix...

All I need do now is to work out how the iOS share works under file sharing/share points, and my smile will return...

Atoenne,

El Capitan is out, no more a beta, its on final release... check the app store... Its free too... (6.04 GB or so download so get a hot coffee before clicking download :-)

My worry was upgrading a server thats miles away using Apple Remote Desktop, but Apple have been listening to us folk and have got it right, it all goes as planned. I have updated two servers now, both remotly (I did backups before of course :-) and they are running very well... faster than ever to be honest... Mail server is now instant, no delays at all... (it has always been slow on previous versions).

Server App 5.0.4 is the one you want too, its on final relase (although has a small bug, see this post string on how to fix if you run a Wiki like me - Apple are aware of this and my feeling is 5.0.5 will be out soon).

Just for note, I ran the El Capitan beta on an old mac mini since beta 2, and its always behaved...(early beta's had bad graphics drivers though) - Now thats its out - I have upgraded all machines, and do notice a big improvment in speed, and I said before, my belief is that Server App 5.0.4 is made for El Capitan, tuned for this OS version perfectly...

Take care

Dan
