iTunes 12.3.0.44 does not recognize connected iPad or iPhone

After upgrading to latest version of iTunes (12.3.0.44) 64bit, it no longer recognizes the iPhone or the iPad, when I connect them to the PC. I use Windows 10 on a Surface Pro 3, and have not had this problem in the previous version of iTunes.

Does anyone see the same problem, or has anyone a good suggestion on how to solve the problem?

I had the same issue with Itunes 12.2 / Window 10 where it would freeze when I connected any of my devices via USB.

After installing Itunes 12.3 it now will sync any of my apples devices. (just the reverse of the problem that you described)

It now, however, won't sync Outlook 2013 (calendar or contacts) at all.

I have updated everything on all devices.

It is surely frustrating!

I had this same problem with my iPhone 6+ and Windows 10 PC. I called Apple Support and finally got to the ITunes Support Supervisor. I had to unload all Apple software starting with iTunes and working in reverse alphabetical order. Reloaded newest iTunes, the pc now recognizes my iPhone tethered for my internet connection. My Apps Library was empty, luckily I had copied libraries to another name just in case. Had to shut down iTunes, hold the shift key down, iTunes then asked which library to use. I selected the one I had renamed. All works well now. My only remaining problem is that all Apps are updated on my phone, but the Apps Library shows 64 Apps need to be updated. I know that is not true, but I have not figured out how to copy the apps from my phone to the Apps Library. Sync and Backup does not do it. My concern is that if I have a phone failure where I need to restore all, that all the apps in the Apps Library that show they need to be updated will have to be downloaded which would take hours and hours.

I've been working with Apple on this issue for about a week now. They are having me send files to engineers and so many other useless things. I feel the supervisor I'm talking to is about to give up. What is listed above sounds like it should work, but what if the Mobile Device Support is nowhere to be found and I've already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes about 15 times. Someone please help, I don't think the Apple support team knows much.

I had tried this from another blog I had seen, before you posted this. It also worked for me on my Windows 7 32 Bit desktop. I also discovered that I didn't even need to start iTunes. I just plugged in my iPad or iPhone and went to the control panel / devices and right clicked Apple iPad / iPhone, should be an option for Trouble Shooter, select that and let Windows do an auto fix. Then the iPad / iPhone showed up in Windows Explorer so I could access the photos in my camera roll. What I do have to do is do this procedure every time I restart or Shutdown / Power on the PC. I was able to sync both devices with iTunes without having to do this procedure if I didn't need to access them in Windows Explorer. After I did the procedure I did notice that the Apple Mobile Device service was started, which it wasn't before I did the procedure. The service is set to auto start, but it showed STOPPED before the procedure and I couldn't force it to start from the Services CPL. I can't figure out exactly what the Trouble Shooter does except start the Apple Mobile Device Service which I couldn't do manually.
