iTunes 12.3.0.44 does not recognize connected iPad or iPhone

After upgrading to latest version of iTunes (12.3.0.44) 64bit, it no longer recognizes the iPhone or the iPad, when I connect them to the PC. I use Windows 10 on a Surface Pro 3, and have not had this problem in the previous version of iTunes.

Does anyone see the same problem, or has anyone a good suggestion on how to solve the problem?

My problem was the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. The Driver was not installed.

This was the solution:

Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  1. Right-click the Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod entry in Device Manager (portable device) and choose Update Driver from the shortcut menu.
  2. Click "Browse my computer for driver software".
  3. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
  4. Click the Have Disk button. (If the Have Disk option is not present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device if listed, and click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.)
  5. In the "Install from Disk" dialog, click the Browse button.
  6. Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
  7. Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).
  8. Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog.
  9. Click Next and finish the driver-installation steps. Open iTunes to verify that the device is recognized properly.

I went to this link,

followed the directions and iTunes recognized my phone. Its a much easier process than the fix on the Apple support page. Too bad Apple support is not aware of this fix.

OMG thank you for that link, the problem is now solved, I thought I would go mad trying to fix this issue.

FIXED FOR ME.

I am running Win 10 and Itunes 12.3.0.44 and Apple Mobile Device Manage was not appearing in USB Controllers

Sorry very vague but did work.

Connect Iphone via USB .

Open Device Manger, and open one of the tabs (possible software devices, definately not USB controllers) and Apple Iphone (presume ipod would also be there) will be there. Right click on the Apple Iphone and update. Should then work.

I have spent hours trying to resolve this is stopping and running Apple Mobile Device Manager, Updating my Iphone etc and it was this 5 min job.

Hope it helps and again sorry for the vagueness, but weither way it should be a 3-6 min job 🙂

Drop down Portable Devices

Right click on Apple iPhone

Select Properties

Select Driver tab

Click Update Driver

Select Browse my computer

Click Browse...

Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers

Windows does the rest
