It is working again. And its nothing to do with your internet connection, as you download any file of the web and it would go as normal. It was something with Apple, but I can download in normal speed now.
Not here yet. Still seems to be about 25-30 kb/s at my place.
I've submitted a request through apple care since I have it for my phone yet. Will see what comes of that.
IN Calgary and still not working. With telus. Talked to apple and they say iproblem is with provider. 20 minutes to download 40 mb app but yet I can download a movie from iTunes 1.55 gb in less then 10 minutes. Go figure.
It is not a service provider problem. Have you tried downloading Non iTunes file from another site to see the speed?
Just got off the phone with Telus support. The problem wasn't on their end as we spent quite a while troubleshooting. The problem seems to be with the DNS settings.
You can change your DNS and that solved the problem for me. There is some information here: www dot macinstruct dot com/node/434
On my iPhone (and my wife's) as well as my iPad we used the Google DNS (8.8.8.8). That didn't work on the MacBook Air, so we had to enter both the other ones provided (208.67.222.222 AND 208.67.220.220). It took a few minutes on the MacBook for the change to be effective, but once it kicked in it was as fast as before as far as I could remember.
Hope this works as well for you as it did for me!
Just a follow up. Using 8.8.4.4 on my macbook in conjunction with the 8.8.8.8 seemed to be way faster than the other pair I mentioned. They are Google hosted as opposed to open dns.
Also, you may need to restart the computer for the change to take effect.
I Am from Malaysia. I tried both those DNS servers and still have extremely slow downloads From the App Store. This is really irritating especially updating my messaging apps
DId you restart your device after changing DNS to specified above?

Today I'm getting a 325MB update for iMovie. And it's taking forever. Apple's suggestion is that I take it to my nearest Apple Center, which is a ridiculous suggestion since there is clearly nothing wrong with the Mac Mini. The problem clearly is due to Apple's Singapore host, since in the rare instance that I do get connected to Hong Kong instead, I get good speed.
From Malaysia too. Download take forever.
Having the same issue here as well for a while now. From the Caribbean. Everything else seems to be downloading & running fine as far as the internet except for App Store downloads, whether it be iOS or OS X or on my iPhone or MacBook Pro. Tried restarting modem/router several times, which only gives a very slight boost & swapped DNSs a couple of times, trying the 2 pairs mentioned earlier in this thread from OpenDNS & Google DNS, nothing worked. As I type this I am struggling along downloading Apple's iLife app updates for iOS & OS X.
Yesterday it took about 5 hours to download the iMovie update.
This morning after letting the iLife updates download overnight, checked again and had another download to install. Started slow as has unfortunately become the norm but near the end the speeds shot up to more than 6x faster.
Checked the Mac App Store and same results, much faster than before speeds. So it looks like, at least as I type this, problem solved.
As of today... still the same. Tryna help a friend to reformat and update everything.... gosh its endless!!!!! 😟
Chronically slow!! Has taken me 8 hours to download 1Gb worth of El Capitan OS. Very very bad and very very frustrating.!!
Is there anywhere else I can download the upgrade from so I can have normal download speeds?
I've tried Googling but there seems to be no standalone downloadable file supplied by Apple.
