Same trouble called Apple no luck and they deny any network issues. I am trying to download El Capitan. they even were generous enough to send me to paid Care for Free over the phone⊠No help either. Do you live in Calgary by any chance? Well in any case I am from Calgary and I am on Telus Fibre FTTH!
I even tried to:
Still no luck!
imagine How I feel having 100-150 Mbit/sec speed and downloading from App Store worse than dial-up.
Even Apple Senior Technician told me that my speed is a bit faster tham their at please where she is.
I am on Telus by the way!
In my case is was problem with Hurricane Electric's ipv6 tunnel service.
Hello Guys,
Well this problem can be solved for MAC's by following steps :
1. Firstly start the update of any app that is not getting any speed or low speed.
2. Then without pausing it, just restart your machine. RESTART don't SHUTDOWN.
3. After restarting see if the speed increases. If it doesn't, follow on.
4. Now shut down your machine and start it again. (Please pause the download before shutting down.)
5. After restarting the speed must have increased.
Try it.
đ Haha thats not way of IT for fixing things up.. You might even make things much worse⊠While UNIX systems hard to brake they're not immortal⊠Even iMac's. While you at it. Hammer and Jigsaw might help you, if you choose this route! đ
Nice sense of humour /S/
P.S. Apple Canada Inc., and/or Apple Inc (USA). I am asking you: PLEASE DO CHECK SERVERS! I am as the CCNA even willing to come to your data centres and help you fix it. I will say it as bold as to say.: I will do that for FREE. Might prove you myself finally useful so you will finally hire me after 5 years of my unlucky attempts.. I bet someone accidentally unplug small tinny fibre optic cable. While leaving for weeks endâŠ
I'm also in YYC and having the same problem. I'm a Telus customer with 25 mbps down/5 up plan. Speedtest shows 26 down/6 up so I'm getting the full speed I should have. My only problem is with the app store. The problem applies to macbook air, 2x iPhone 5s and an iPad mini.
Please let me know if you figure anything out. I just got the macbook recently after having PCs my whole life so I'm totally clueless on how to troubleshoot this thing. đ
I feel your pain friend. The one thing I can say is that it is no t your iMac or your ISP.. It is Apple servers. Our solution is to prey and hope someone at Apple will find this discussion and start to act.
This is what happens when compony decides to self host all Apple servers and release Major updates and upgrades without investing much in it's own infrastructure. Where as they've to push back major releases before systems are more stable and can handle billions of simultaneous connections.
Perhaps, Apple for now must learn from Microsoft this time around, with their rollout of Windows 10. I am deeply ashamed to say this, but thats the truth..S/
P.S. Here I am hoped that I would never say this, but I sadly did it!
Same issue here too. I am from India and I have relatively decent speed of 8Mbps and I am getting a download speed of 850-950 KB/s everywhere but the download speed from App Store for iMovie 2GB or El Capitan is so horrible. I am trying since 3 days and this is my 8th attempt, there are download failures too. I don't know what to do? How to get rid of this issue.đą
And like you said the download size is fluctuating too, why this is happening? đ
I am in Vancouver,Canada, and the same thing, almost impossible to download anything form any app store,IPhone Ipad or Mac app store. And I just bought a $6 app and I can't even try it out ! But just download any other file of the web, its normal speed. Again, Apple whats going on, another IOS release disaster ?
It seem that it's effecting all Apple update servers !! đż
Well if this is the case, why is so hard for Apple to admit to a problem and just post it up on the webpage or email it ? Its like this every year and every IOS release. We all understand that computers have problems some days but Apple always acts like nothing has happen so not to scare of new customers.
In Canada? Yeah, we would because we're Canadians and probably most polite people in the world - it's our trade mark of sorts.. But as for rest of the world. I am not so sure. Plus, they scared probably, because generally Apple products are among most expensive on this planet and things like that is bad publicity. Yet, I think that it's not entirely Apple's responsibility. But I agree with you they should've come up front with things that are happening. Sadly, they have rumours of being most secretive corporation and most of it's problems never leave Apple's walls.
Im on Telus 25 as well and have the same problem, downloading over cellular is ten times faster right now than my wifi but I've reached my limit on data, hopefully it will be fixed soo.
Well, i was able to download iMovie and El Capitan on the same day. I disconnect Wi-Fi and connected by MBP with LAN cable from the router. The speed did increase a bit, but the connection was constant. đ
I'm in Malaysia too. Using TM Unifi. Very very slow download since last month. Whenever i turn off Unifi and use my Cellular data,(Digi and Umobile) the download speed back to normal. Must be TM problem then. I've email them saying something might be wrong but they just reply with step to do speedtest. Sigh
As of today:
Issue seems to be resolved at Least for Southern Alberta - Calgary to be exact, that is Canada !
Strangely though I am getting 140 Mbit/sec speeds đ instead of 100 may be due to the fact that I have Optik TV for 3 TV's and unlimited add-on on the account. LOL
