ios9 update -> now touchscreen problems

Ever since I updated to ios 9, my iphone 5s touchscreen is acting crazy. The accuracy of where I touch or slide vs. what the iphone thinks I did is completely off. The phone seems to have a mind of its own too, it starts opening apps and stuff when I'm not even touching it. Then other times it freezes completely for 5-10 minutes. It is nearly impossible to shut it off because it won't swipe when I initiate the turn off screen. The home button works fine. Every once in a while the phone will act normal for like 15 minutes and then it goes crazy again!! Anyone else?? This just started a couple days ago after I did the ios 9 update.

Hi beecccca,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like the iPhone can't be powered off and the touchscreen is opening apps on its own. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

If the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond to touch - Apple Support

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

To force restart your device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

Cheers

Guys just leave the phone to continue acting on itself, after some time it will become stable. I am freeze free for 2 days now, as previously I just locked it and then unlocked, i.e doing nothing, no hard reset, no restore, nothing at all. I remember the ios 8.1.2 had similar bug in settings app it was freezing occasionally, then with no reason went away, I know it is not some help, but when apple does not helping us, there is nothing to lose, just wait and hope for the best. Oh yeah I forgot, i jailbroke it and runs very smooth. (still on iOS 9.0.2)

Update - the latest iOS 9 release didn't fix anything. However, I did get a boatload of app updates over the last few weeks. The screen issues decreased with the app updates. However, the latest iOS update from a couple days back has not fixed the issue. I still have loss of touch screen input, though not as often. But a new issue has popped up. I now get "jammed" buttons. I.e., if I push an on-screen button it will stay stuck in whatever position I pressed it. Have to put the phone in standby and unlock it again for it to work.

ALso: why the **** aren't the forums mobile-friendly? Trying to edit anything is a pain and its Super sluggish. Autocorrect hates it. Heaven forbid anyone should try to use these forums from one of the devices Apple is so well known for...

ok here what i did . first before i begin i don't know if its going to work for all . now you need to download 9.0.2 firmware file. then downgrade the iPhone 6 from iOS 9.1 to 9.0.2 after downgrading . i use my iOS 9.0.2 for a while without restoring from my backup so i have update my iPhone to iOS 9.1 . i have set it as new then i restored from backup and also you will see most of app will not complete restoring so you have to restore them from App Store and i have use it all day no touch issue and i really these method will help all of you . one thing more try while your iPhone syncing with iTunes it will show you thats most app from your back up will takes time to load on your iPhone so open your App Store and stop them and i download them from App Store coz one of these app causing the touch issues .

I sent feedback about week ago, no any message from Apple. When Iphone 6 working fine, it's better keep awaiking all the time. If you lock screen then touch screen problem is here again. Apple can't give to us any good answer because they haven't it. They know this problem but it's so expensive to solve it that's why they can't agree it.

I'm having the same problem!

Iphone 5c, IOS 9.1

This started just when I updated to IOS 9.0.1

Then updated to 9.0.2, and then to 9.1

Still having the same problem!

I did normal reset, hard reset, restored to factory settings, none worked.

I had to connect a bluetooth keyboard to click on some notification dialogs that weren't responding via touch!

Fix this!

I tried what you suggested and set my duration at 0.3 seconds. Making it less sensitive made sense so the "phantom touches" won't be recognized by the phone.

For almost 2 days I had no issues -- I thought that it finally worked!

However since yesterday the problem has been coming back... touchscreen moving on its own, apps being selected, letters being pressed on keyboard

Sometimes the screen is completely unresponsive so I have to turn screen on and off a few times. Now I have no idea what is causing it...I think I've tried everything. Except for updating iOS, which I am not ready to do based on people's responses so far...
