Why can't I post
I tried to post a question and it won't let me.
Tried again. No luck.

Here's the skinny on getting logged out...
TimeoutLength for "inactivity" (*) is 30 minutes**
* Activity is navigating the forum - with URL hyperlinks - javascript 'actions' like "this helped me" don't count - reloading a page counts
opening a "Reply" window and leaving it open resets the timer every 15-20 minutes (nobody has nailed that one down, but it is under 30 minutes, so it is moot)**
** creating a NEW Question is NOT the same thing as a reply to t thread message - THIS may be what affected you - even though it says it is "auto-saving", it has no "thread number" to save it TO until one finishes the process by hitting the magic twanger [POST] button
I had this happen too. I didn't time out or use bad language. it just said I wasn't allowed to post, create or add content. Weird. I own lots of Apple products and have never misbehaved. :-)
I don't remember if anyone has mentioned in this thread that the SiteWare is very "glitchy" - random instances of this anomaly are not uncommon, having no apparent cause
SOLUTION:
Try again
I can't post a question either. And it's my first question that I desperately need help on but it just states "You are not allowed to create or update this content" but it hasn't even been posted. I tried shortening the title, I don't use obscenities, I just need help...
Is this the question you are referring to:

You did post it and there is a reply. If you want to continue that conversation, simply click on 'reply' to the person who responded.
Make sure you are signed in - 30 minutes of inactivity automatically logs you out.
It may be that you have been "timed out" if your time on the new question page composition exceeds 30 minutes. If you think this may be the case, copy the text and make sure that you are logged in by navigating around a bit, looking for your Username at the top left of the page(s) - then TRY AGAIN.
That error is also a forum glitch - sometimes overcome by logging out and back in again.
You have successfully posted this question, so we know you actually can.
In what forum are you asking?
Hi,
There's another reason for failure to post. The Communities are arranged in a hierarchy of folders. You can only post in the "leaf" forums. If you are not already in one of them when creating a question, you'll be prompted to select a forum. You must select one, or the post will be rejected with the "you are not allowed" message. The safest way is to first visit the forum where you want to post.
IT said you are not allowed to create or update this content
Yes. In reading all the previous posts you should find that it may be a known forum bug and several suggestions on overcoming it
testing - having same issue
Many people have this issue - occasionally or regularly
You have posted here, so you need to tell the details of your experience - step-by-step
I figured it out. there is a delay when starting a new topic. It appears that the topic doesn't post but eventually it does. Even if the post button looks like it isn't working.
That is NOT what should happen.
If it happens again, document it in detail as best you can (no immediate 'evidence'?) - tell us a story with timestamps and URL, and all that jazz
OR not
and chock it up to occasional glitches being par for the course
It happened three times in a row - nothing like duplicate posts you cant delete.
thanks for your input. I will see if it happens again in the future and respond again with any other specifics which may help.
I have seen several "Dupes" for my "Replies" - but have no experience with a new question/discussion.
Easy explanation is... a client-side-computing <=> server communication lag/error at that critical moment of POST allowing for multiple user actions for the same thing
I have seen a couple of different variations of what I see on screen
At bottom, as long as you know that it is posting from the first attempt, you can check to see by leaving that TAB/Window alone > then navigating in a new TAB/Window to the forum list where you targeted it posting before taking further action
This issue is known by the Hosts/Engineers, but I don't know of any instructions for what they want (if anything) from users experiencing the anomaly
Why can't I post
