Disable Game Center, IOS 9

I am not a heavy game player, but I do like an occasional game of Solitaire on my iPad. WIth the upgrade to IOS 9, everytime I open the app, I get nagged to sign in to Game Center. How can I stop this decided annoyance?

You can't disable it as such. You can log out of Game Center but when a Game Center enabled game is run, it will hound you to sign in...hit cancel about 4 or 5 times to get it to stop bugging you. Also note that after cancelling 4-5 times, it will stop hounding you to sign in BUT, it may hound you again the following day (my experience after iOS 9 was released)

Example:

1. Run game

2. Sign in Game Center prompt (hit cancel)

3. Tap Home button

4. Tap game icon to open game again

5. Sign in Game Center prompt (hit cancel)

(repeat beginning at 3.)

Repeat about 4-5 times until the Game Center sign-in prompt does not appear.

This seems to be a current bug on Apple's end as this affects devices on iOS 7 as well. However, this seemed to start with the release of iOS 9.

Also look for a setting within the game to disable Game Center. This may help.

I Think i've done it! Apple has a new feature of being able to delete default apps so let me try to explain my strategy

1. create a folder (or use an existing one) and place any unwanted apps inside, like game center

2. tap and hold on an app until they all start to jiggle

3. Press and hold game center until youre able to freely move it and then drag it to the right so it's put onto the second (or next available empty) page of the folder. Release game center but leave it jiggling

4. Press and hold the game center app again so you can freely move it and then drag it to the right again until a third (or next next available empty) page but do not release!

5. While game center is being suspended by one finger, use another to tap the home screen button and the app is deleted. Repeat for all undesirable apps

there's a video (i think by buzzfeed) if i wasnt clear enough, but there is a catch. Some apps will stay gone with this method and some will come back from the dead. In fact, game center might still be activated so what you're going to need to do is restart your device and do these steps over. After the second time, the app should be gone AND disabled. Best of wishes 🙂

Disclaimer: i read through this post and Idespairofusernames seemed to have a good method. I had already tried the delete method once and it failed to remove game center after i restarted my device so i logged myself out of game center and then got myself locked out by Idespairofusernames' method, and then i tried the delete method a second time and game center no longer popped up on games, so idk if that might play a part as well. I advise you restart your device after the second run through of the delete method to see if my idea works. If not, get yourself locked out by Idespair's method and then the delete method

why would you choose not to have GameCenter running as you play games? the Game Center is what sets iOS superily apart from other devices. The paint system from custom iOS achievements is awesome. Plus you also get to be ranked amungst all GameCenter friends. The issue needs to be fixed immediately, because Apple is loosing long time users
