My text messages are delayed since updating to ios9.

Anyone else having this problem? I get some messages a day later and it shows the timestamp that the message was initially sent. Like I received a message today at 5:28 pm and it was sent yesterday at 6:05 pm. Some messages only have a 9 hour delay. People are not receiving all the messages that I send. I'm sending to apple and android users. I have an iphone6. I'm also getting a message from an unknown sender saying "service denied".

OMG i finally found the correct spot my fellow sufferers. I can honestly say, i have had this issue for 6 FKING months and i am probably the first of it all. My text messages are sometimes on time, or from 30seconds to a day late. ALSO i do not always receive incom calls, all i get is a voicemail alert or a text from +8888 whocalled as i am on the Rogers network AND they come just as the text messages Ontime or LATE. I might add, i have full reception when these occur or 3-5 bars. The first time i was at home and had no txt or calls from like 8pm to 12pm(noon) the next day. I then went for a drive for smokes (changed cell towers, i worked on a few long ago i know where they are) and BAM a dozen calls, as many voicemails and +8888, 3 dozen or so txt msgs ALL with correct stamps. Since then it is an on and off occurance and being in construction this is a pain in the *** and i have actually lost alot of money from missed calls for estimates. i dont have time to sit and stay on hold with the phone company time after time, but all they say is not us, get a new phone! there was never anything on apple and i did send a ticket when it first hapoened but that seems to have disapeared without a response (not surprising with what i have heard on the web). but hey slowly but surely other people have been getting the same problem and guess what? THEY ARE ALL APPLE! so ya, get ur **** together Apple because droid is looking better and better.... this is coming from an EX-HTC Desire HD owner...... please do not make me go back plzplzplzplz. i just cannot afford to lose anymore potential jobs iphone 5 manufactured april 2013 i believe. also i have been directly beside the person trying to call me or txt me and had it do it just so i could prove it to them. no the dnd was not on, i've been through everything, hard reset, hard wipe, i even did the firmware, network reset, updated carrier network. Buy a new phone you are going to say? Sure, but everyone i know with an iphone atm, has the same issue. If you tell me to buy a new phone, im pulling out my samsung flip phone, that thing is indestructible and works flawlessly, eventhough it is from 2005. Sometimes your first ends up coming back around for you to use again Ps. Everyone i know with this problem, has a battery issue. On that note, i am taking a microfibre cloth, isopropanol (fast dry no residue) and i am going to clean headphone jack and charge port. i do have an otter box, and NO this phone has not seen any water, i bought it and had it put in the case the second the sim card went it, its been out maybe 10 times sine june 2013. I've never even touched the screen with it out of the otter box except with a microfiber cloth lol!

So I did the following:

Deleted all group conversations. Turned out I had more than one that had gone very far back.

Had AT&T reset my network settings on their side.

Reset network settings on my side.

Rebooted phone.

So far, things seem to be OK.

I believe the issue is with group text conversations exceeding a certain size. The thing is, it only seems to take 1 conversation, perhaps among many, to create this behavior in EVERY group chat. Try deleting them all.

Unfortunately i dont and have never had a group convo, but i have already deleated all txts after backing them all up (had to for work) my network has not reset their end and i will try that tomorrow BUT they had a carrier network update (for the first time in 2.5 years!) but alas it still persists. One thing i HAVE noticed is it occurs much more often when connected to wIfi. I will turn off wifi and imessage for a few days and try that. I know imessage has been a problem lately (it took 2 days to get it back up for me) As it is with several Carriers and only apple specific im begining to fear it is more likely software or firmware and less hardware As it is ios specific. My dads crackberry is perfectly fine and no issues reported so far that i know of. but hey its only been 6 months, for me atleast, whats another 6 before they take a good look at it. All i know is time is money, and missed/delayed calls/txts are lost money.

I purposely set up my new 6S as a new phone to keep from loading any old group conversations and the problem still exists. At some point people will start to dump their iphones. I've been a loyal Apple customer since the second iphone came out but group conversations with my family are more important than having an iphone that doesn't work. I will return my 6S on the 30th day if this issue is not fixed by then. As a side note, I did speak to an Apple "Manager" last Friday that was going to escalate the issue. Was told I would get a call back in 24 hours. It's been four days and I've sent him 3 emails without one response.

Worked with an AT&T rep last night. Re-inserted the SIM, Turned off/on imessage/mms/sms, they resent me new "signals", restarted my service, reset network settings, among some other things. He said it's a known issue and that supposedly Apple is working on a fix for the next iOS update, but there was no additional information he had as to when that would be.

It is relief to know I am not the only person with this group messaging issue!

Not that this will help anyone, but here is everything I have done and it is still not working correctly, I started receiving sporadic group texts or none at all in early September:

  • Upgraded iphone5 to iphone6 with ATT
  • ATT put in new SIM Card in iPhone6
  • Upgraded to 9.0.2
  • Apple provided me with a new iPhone6, phone was set up as NEW, so no past conversations were brought over. This phone is currently running on version 8.4.1 and group messages still not working.
  • Turned of Text Message Forwarding
  • Cellular Data/LTE set to Data Only

I have run out of options and I have spent countless hours with ATT and Apple and nobody has a solution. I couldn't be more frustrated and for first time ever contemplating leaving both Apple and ATT.

My text messages are delayed since updating to ios9.
