Sometimes there's no sound on notifications after iOS9 update

So I updated my iOS devices (iPhone 6Plus, iPad 4 and iPod Touch 5) with the new iOS 9 on 17th September and since then I have noticed a weird thing. For most of the apps such as whatsapp, viber, Facebook Messenger, Gmail and some games (for which I have set the notifications as active), there's no notification sound but still the notification comes up on the screen. This happens even with the native messaging app (whether I send a text or iMessage). When there's another notification from the same app, then notification plays the sound or at times the sound stutters for multiple notifications from same app (e.g.: whatsapp group texts).

So anyone else facing the same issues? Does anyone know a solution? I have tried restarting, restoring and updating my devices to iOS 9 again and the mute buttons on my iPhone and iPad weren't ON while facing the issues. The volume is at max level.

I guess its already time for Apple to release iOS 9.1 fixing the issues.

iPad 4 - 64GB

iPod Touch 5 - 16GB

I don't have a the watch, just the iPhone 6S that was setup as a new phone and is running 9.03 right now. Notifications sometimes have sounds and sometimes don't. Some notifications like Facebooks just don't work at all anymore. It's all very random and bizarre. It's also quite frustrating and I hope someone finds a workaround or better Apple fixes it soon. Sad that 9.1 B3 isn't fixing it from what people are saying.

I have a feeling (also) that it's a Bluetooth thing. After reading through this thread I turned on my Bluetooth. Two minutes later a call comes in and no ringing. Locked my phone, no lock sound. Turned off Bluetooth (I only use it on occasions but sometimes forget to turn it off which I think is the reason I noticed), locked my phone, no sound. Tried it a couple more times (within about 20 seconds) and it finally had a sound.

While typing this, I got the notification sound for my email to reply right above this.

Same issue here too.I've updated to the current iOS 9.0.2...I would get no sound despite the whatsapp message the screen..this really surprised me..Well,it doesn't happen all the time but at least so,far it has occurred once last night and once today..I have checked the ringer or the volume button.Everything is fine.Tested another time with an incoming whatsapp message, there was sound as usual.Hopefully,Apple could help to rectify this simple matter..Thanks

I'm having this same issue since upgrading to ios 9. I'm now on 9.0.2 and the problem persists. My friends & family have the same problem with their iPhones after having upgraded. I've read some of the posts here that suggest that it may a bluetooth related issue. I don't believe it is. My notification sounds work sporadically whether I have Bluetooth activated or not. I've sent feedback to http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and hope all here do the same. Can't believe it's been a month and this bug has still not been corrected! 😟

I can tell you in my case it has something to do with the Bluetooth... Once I connect the Bluetooth to my hands free in my car, I lose

all text notifications after I leave the car. If I turn the Bluetooth off I get my notifications back.... But I also have the Apple watch, which needs to be connected to the phones Bluetooth full time .....

Sometimes I can turn off the Bluetooth, do a soft reset to the iPhone 6plus (9.0.2) and turn Bluetooth back on and it works.....SOMETIMES....

This bug is not worth the hassle...... I love my Apple watch but not at the cost of my missed notifications.... **** I could miss a major situation.... 😟
