Sometimes there's no sound on notifications after iOS9 update

So I updated my iOS devices (iPhone 6Plus, iPad 4 and iPod Touch 5) with the new iOS 9 on 17th September and since then I have noticed a weird thing. For most of the apps such as whatsapp, viber, Facebook Messenger, Gmail and some games (for which I have set the notifications as active), there's no notification sound but still the notification comes up on the screen. This happens even with the native messaging app (whether I send a text or iMessage). When there's another notification from the same app, then notification plays the sound or at times the sound stutters for multiple notifications from same app (e.g.: whatsapp group texts).

So anyone else facing the same issues? Does anyone know a solution? I have tried restarting, restoring and updating my devices to iOS 9 again and the mute buttons on my iPhone and iPad weren't ON while facing the issues. The volume is at max level.

I guess its already time for Apple to release iOS 9.1 fixing the issues.

iOS devices that were updated:

iPhone 6Plus - 128GB

iPad 4 - 64GB

iPod Touch 5 - 16GB

I have no sound for notifications - none. Do Not Disturb is off, no quarter moon, restarted phone (6) - tried everything. It's only been happening since latest update 9.0.2

I'll grab my phone and it lights up, showing I have missed texts and missed calls, although the phone has been on my desk all the time. It's frustrating and I don't want to call apple. Anyone have a fix that works? Any update on the bug fix?

Out of curiosity again... If you turn it off, do your notifications work??

The reason I ask is because it was a bluetooth issue for me (and I think a few other people too). Not that it makes this situation any better but if that's what it is, at least we know the cause. And hopefully Apple can figure out a fix for this already so I (we) can use bluetooth! 😠

For me, my Bluetooth isn't trying to connect to anything in my home, other then my Apple watch.

I don't see not using a feature, like Bluetooth, as a solution... that's putting a band aid on a wound that needs stitches.

Apple needs to figure this out..... For those that it doesn't have anything to do with Bluetooth, well that s ucks even more

because it tells me we're probably not on the right track of understanding what's causing it and Apple's probably just as confused....

I don't even see it as a band aid, if it were the problem. But I was curious to know if it solved the problem for people because something is always better than nothing. It's more like putting a band aid on the Grand Canyon... Because I still need to use my bluetooth. And I use it far less than most people but I still need it.

But... All of that was for nothing because... It's back to the same problem anyway. After restarting my phone this morning (as I do around once a week), this afternoon I watched my phone ringing on my desk. Notice I said watched because the only sound it made came from the vibrating on my desk. Then, an hour later heard my phone vibrating while is was sitting in my cup holder in my car but no sound and the screen didn't light up. Like it was ringing but only vibrating. I couldn't answer it. After it did it through about 4 cycles, it finally rang and lit up. 😕

So far, none of the ideas have worked as mentioned by other users. I have upgraded my iPhone 6 Plus and iPod touch 5 to iOS 9.1 but the issue is still there. The only thing that is fixed from iOS 9 to 9.1 is the screen rotation (don't know if you guys experienced the same or not). At times, the screen used to rotate even if i kept it on the desk (screen unlocked) and the screen will rotate from portrait to landscape and somehow won't return back. I had to lock and then unlock my phone and after that it was normal (had to repeat this step every time if the screen shifted from portrait to landscape). This issue is resolved for me after updating to iOS 9.1. but the issues of my original post are still there

Anyone found a solid solution?

And just to clear out the common notion.... I DID NOT had bluetooth ON. i don't use bluetooth on my iOS devices at all so there's no chance of missing the notification sounds because it was paired with bluetooth devices. The only handsfree device i use is the EarPods and while typing this message, same thing happened. I got 3 texts from my friend and the first one didn't make a sound. only the screen lit up and for second and third texts, the texts notifications made the sound i have set up. In this case, it was iMessage texts.
