Sometimes there's no sound on notifications after iOS9 update

So I updated my iOS devices (iPhone 6Plus, iPad 4 and iPod Touch 5) with the new iOS 9 on 17th September and since then I have noticed a weird thing. For most of the apps such as whatsapp, viber, Facebook Messenger, Gmail and some games (for which I have set the notifications as active), there's no notification sound but still the notification comes up on the screen. This happens even with the native messaging app (whether I send a text or iMessage). When there's another notification from the same app, then notification plays the sound or at times the sound stutters for multiple notifications from same app (e.g.: whatsapp group texts).

So anyone else facing the same issues? Does anyone know a solution? I have tried restarting, restoring and updating my devices to iOS 9 again and the mute buttons on my iPhone and iPad weren't ON while facing the issues. The volume is at max level.

I guess its already time for Apple to release iOS 9.1 fixing the issues.

I have had this problem since first iOS 9 update, it's been stressing me out for weeks!

I Updated to iOS 9.1 this morning and it seems to have solved the problem so fingers crossed Apple has fixed the glitch

Same here. Updated to 9.1 and notification sounds have worked all day. Don't even dare say it out loud - don't want to jinx it ...

Update of 9.1 seems to have fixed the sound notification problem - It's inconsistent, but working more times than not. I still don't get notification sounds if the phone is in my hand, surfing online. If doing something else on phone (photos, web), a text will come through without sound, phone number pops on screen without sound.

I just updated to 9.1 on a new 6s. Notifications don't have sounds, no keyclicks or lock sounds.

Oh. Phone calls don't ring. Vibrations only. (Notifications do have vibrations too, but no sounds).

This means I can't use my new phone until the problem is fixed.

Updated to iOS 9.1. No keyboard clicks. No lock sounds. Reboot to get them back ... for a little while. Sheesh!

Well, this is crap-tastic. No ring on incoming call, no keyboard clicks, no screen lock sound. iOS 9.1 is getting worse the longer it's installed. And the iOS 9.x progression has been a horrible experience on m iPhone 5s and iPhone 6s Plus.

Yes, I closed all apps and rebooted the phone ... TWICE.

It's sooo wonderful to have a $850 phone that I can't trust. Thanks, Uncle Tim! Now fix your **** phone!

BTW... I updated yesterday to 9.1 and it's changed nothing...... still not getting sound notifacations....I'm not even getting the

vibrations..... just on my watch... nothing from my phone..and the ringer is on and I'm not on DND.......This just s.u.c.k.s.!

Ok, so after updating to 9.1 I thought it had fixed the issue, but NO! Sometimes notifications have sound... and often they don't. NO CHANGE! Really annoying!

Same issue here with an iPhone 6s on iOS 9.1. This morning alone I have had this problem with at least 3 apps: the native calendar app, Alarmed, and Errands. All three times I was using the phone so saw the notification (Alert) and felt it vibrate, but no sound. Bluetooth is off and vibrate switch is not activated.

So. Incredibly. Frustrating.

Apple please fix the notification sound problems and siri problems. And stop focusing on constantly trying to patch the jailbreak exploits. fix the simple problems first. what do beta testers test for ? as you still release a ios version with simple bugs present.
