Apps Stuck Updating after iOS 9

I have noticed every day since I have updated iPad Air / 64G to iOS 9 - I find some pre-existing app stuck attempting to update itself. i have done some research and tried everything but it keeps happening. Only reboot iPad seems to clear it up until the next one gets stuck. Oddly enough others update fine, there is no rhyme or reason to which ones get stuck.

Anyone have any idea what's going on and/or how to fix it?

- thx

I turned off auto updates so at least I could see when it happened.

THis morning my UP APP went into "installing" limbo and I had to delete it by going the "general" manage storage route.

But when I went back to download it I noticed that IMDB was in the update list with no action icon.

I went back to manage storage and found a "null" APP and deleted it.

ANother hard boot and two APPs to reload.

the APP store app shows a "1" notification but on opening no APP flagged to update.

APple QA has gone to **** in a hand basket.

Tons-O-Fun.

PS I keep getting double caps trying to type comments at the beginning of a line. Guess I better head over to an iOS thread.

TThe main problem with some iPads is that you need iTunes on a PC to fix most things but if you haven't got a PC now it is impossible to fix the as I haven't got a PC anymore, the reason that you can't email APPLE direct is because THEY know about the bad updates but aren't bothered as they have had your money and want you to spend more with them to fix any problems, the person who I contacted about my problem knew less than me and I'm not a PC geek and that's the main reason that things can't get fixed as it's poor support,I won't buy any APPLE stuff again I'll buy a PC that isn't made by APPLE.

BTW, the problem also occurs when during a stalling/stuck installation you go to the apps screen and tap the stuck app's "pause" button. When you tap "resume", the installation will finish quickly and successfully, but the app store still thinks that the app is not installed and throws error messages, subsequently going into installation limbo.

I'm seeing this with my iPhone 5S, over the past few months. Just had it happen with NetFlix. Last time I deleted the app and re-installed. This time I turned the phone off and on (not a forced reboot, just the regular off). The app then had no icon, but was available as a download from cloud in the app store, so I did that, which worked. The app also originally didn't have anyone logged in, but when I went to log in, it remembered me.

As a newcomer to the Community and having switched from Andriod to iOS (with all latest 9 updates) on a recently purchased iphone 5c, I must say that itunes seems to be the weak-link( dare I say a cranky non-intuative ) in the issue of downloading Apps. So I was surprised to find several apps waiting in itunes that I thought were stuck. The only way I found to get into itunes was to connect my phone with USB cable to my computer running Windows 7, then waiting for phone to sync (with my phone Settings on General and scoll down to itunes and wi-fi sync to ensure it is syncing ) . Eventually itunes page recognised my phone with an icon on top-line and clicking allows menu to be opened-up on LH side. Then click Apps and the stuck apps, together with others I have previously downloaded, are listed. The trick is not only to click install along side lists but also to click APPLY at bottom of page.

I am sure this is telling everyone something you all know about itunes Apps but I felt elated with my success after weeks of failures. I can see why itunes has so few decent apps available plus the search box top-right doesn`t respond. I wish I had stuck to Android phone which downloaded apps over my wi-fi from google play store whenever I went their website.

The other incident that occured during the above itunes page was my PC saying a particular App could not be installed because " I am not aurthosed on this computer" and to choose: Store> Aouthorise this computre. Fortunately after several minutes a box popped-up to ask if I wanted to aouthorise and so I clicked yes please.

I ran across this hint recently. Don't know if it will have a long term affect, but so far so good.

Open the APP Store.

Select any of the screen bottom tabs TEN times.

I used the ""Updates" tab and tapped it TEN times.

After the last tap my screen cleared and returned.

My understanding is that this clears the APP Store cache.

Serious? EXACTLY!!!!!

It's not just apps that are disappearing but they generally take their associated directories of files with them - incl. prefs, docs, etc if they are not cloud-based. LUCKILY most stuff is cloud-based these days. This is why I find it astonishing that Apple is not more concerned about this issue. Apple as always been staunch supporters of "no data loss" policy and up until recently have lived by that code.

Yes I have tried the "switch to bold / relaunch springboard" fix with no luck.

FWIW - remember with me - this is on two seperate iOS devices - iPhone 6 and iPad Air - so unlikely it is a corrupted install on TWO devices. This is an App Store based problem the best I can figure.
