iPhone 6S freezes after unlock

Hi all,

I received my iPhone 6S 128GB silver today and I have a problem with it:

When unlocking via fingerprint (which is very fast!!!) the home screen freezes.

So, it unlocks normally, the home screen with all apps shows up but then freezes.

It happens every 2nd or 3rd time I unlock my phone and when the standard home screen shows up.

It freezes for 5-6 second and no matter what I do, the phone doesn't show any reaction - even pushing the home button or the on-off-button.

I restarted the phone several times, "normal" and also restart with "home- & on/off-button"...

Is anyone of you having same issues?

cheers

Can confirm the same issue. I did NOT restore from backup, it was a clean install. Iphone 6s 64GB space grey.

I came here to write the exact same thing, the touch sensor is wicked fast, but every few times, I get a 2-5 second "freeze" on the home screen. Occationally I'll be able to hit an app before it freezes, and then it is jumpy in the app for a few seconds.

My friend just got his and complains about the same thing.

I am also having this issue on iPhone 6S+ 128GB.

Tried DFU restores on 9.1, 9.2b1, 9.2b2, 9.2b3. Tried regular restores on all those as well. Tried encrypted iTunes restores, iCloud restores, and setting up as new iPhone on all attempts. There is no combination that removes the lag/freezing on unlocking the device after it has been idle for a few minutes. I have a bug report open with Apple (23456086) but I have no idea if they even check that.

This iPhone is really leaving a sour taste in my mouth.

You are a great theoretist, my friend. But as you may have noticed, there are at least 3 persons here who fixed the lag just playing with touchID. It's a mix of factors, I agree and I said that before, including at least both touchID and 128Gb module, but touchID settings alone somehow have the largest and confirmed in practice influence on the lagginess.

P.S./ I have a Tsmc chip and still it lagged hugely before I fixed it.

I've tried disabling TouchID entirely and unlocked the phone by swiping left and entering my passcode. It made no difference on my 6s Plus 128 GB.

I had opened a bug report with Apple and they closed it as a dupe, so they are aware of the problem, even if they aren't actually fixing it.

Unfortunately I've found that AppleCare phone support has no knowledge of this problem at all. When I called in to report it, they claimed that no one else had reported this problem.

It sounds like you have a different issue entirely than what this thread is about. You would be better served by starting your own separate thread.

After having the unlock freeze issue on my 2nd 6s+ 128gb as well, I went back to the Apple Store yesterday to voice my Concerns. i was told they are well aware of the issue and apple is working on a fix. Taken with a grain of salt of course. Anyway, they swapped out my phone again with a brand new unit. It's on 9.0.2 so thinking about jailbreaking. Not sure it will make any difference but no harm giving it a go before updating to newer OS.

I'm from Brazil and I've got an iPhone 6S+ 128GB and I've got the same issue.

The screen freezes sometimes after I unlock the phone by fingerprint.

I've only one fingerprint registered and I've release this iPhone I don't know how many.

Apple Brazil does not help us. Apple USA tried to help, but it's not enough as we as accustomed.

I've tried to disable the spotlight search and handoff, but I guess it's not the main problem. The bug persist.

I'd like to replace my device but I don't know if it will better than this device.

I'm really miss Jobs!

Good news. I had multiple teams from Apple engineering reach out to me. I have them linked to your video (I think it was yours) and the videos of a few other people with evidence of the same issue. In addition to linking them this thread and a MacRumors thread covering this, I also provided them with multiple sysdiagnoses taken within 10 seconds of the bug happening. Also provided them with a normal sysdiagnose of the unlock happening normally. I provided those logs to them on Wednesday, hopefully it helps them resolve this issue finally. I'll let you know what I hear back from them if anything.
