iPhone 6S freezes after unlock

Hi all,

I received my iPhone 6S 128GB silver today and I have a problem with it:

When unlocking via fingerprint (which is very fast!!!) the home screen freezes.

So, it unlocks normally, the home screen with all apps shows up but then freezes.

It happens every 2nd or 3rd time I unlock my phone and when the standard home screen shows up.

It freezes for 5-6 second and no matter what I do, the phone doesn't show any reaction - even pushing the home button or the on-off-button.

I restarted the phone several times, "normal" and also restart with "home- & on/off-button"...

Is anyone of you having same issues?

cheers

Yeah, they refuse to acknowledge the issue. I've had mine replaced three times now and they still just say it's a "touch-screen issue" or whatever. When I showed the last guy at the Apple Store the video's online, he got EXTREMELY defensive and irritated.

Who knows, all I know is, it's down to a half a second if I leave iCloud drive and Spotlight Suggestions turned off.

The fixes seem to be random, which is probably why they aren't acknowledging that it is an issue yet, because they don't know what is causing it.

You should not have to dumb the phone down just to try and get it to run smoothly. It is appalling that Apple has let this go for so long without addressing this issue. My friends iPhone 6s Plus 128gb Space grey has been running smoth up until today (three weeks) he is now suffering lagging on the status bar when unlocking the phone. I still refuse to purchase a 6s until a permanent fix is available and we get a public apology from Apple. If it takes 6months I am better off waiting another 6 months for the iPhone 7. Come on Apple, get your act together, you are really going down hill fast.

The problem is completely unrelated to the TouchId sensor since I can trigger the problem without even touching the home button. Here's the steps:

1. Leave the phone alone for a bit. Make sure it isn't playing music and hasn't received a push notification for about a minute. Basically the phone needs to have been idle.

2. Press the power button and swipe up on the camera and count the number of seconds it takes for the video to show up.

3. Press the home button, lock the screen and immediately repeat step 2.

For me the first time I open the camera it takes a good 3 to 4 seconds for the video to show up. The second time I do it, it takes a second.

I am convinced there is an issue with the 128 GB model, or more specifically some 128 GB models. My first 128 GB (TSMC) didn't have any lag. My replacement one (Samsung) had horrendous lag right off the bat when I set it up as new. I'm talking 10 second delay from unlocking until use. That settled down to about 2 to 3 seconds eventually, but it's something I never saw on my first phone.

Hi everybody !

I would like to join the discussion because of the same issue on my iPhone (6s Plus 128Gb - iOS 9.1).

In my opinion and on the basis of the tests I made, it's a software problem related to the touch id: I simply disabled it (I disabled also the locking code) and my iPhone started working fast !

Not only when unlocking the phone but in general it really seems more responsive (keyboard, opening apps, etc).

The problem affects also iPhone 6: a friend of mine has exactly the same issue on his 6 Plus running iOS 9.1. He already got a replacement from the Apple store but again with the same issue after updating to iOS 9.1.

Other friends have this problem also on their 6s (not Plus) 64Gb so it not seems to be related only to the Plus 128Gb model.

I was hoping that iOS 9.2 fixed the issue but - as far as I can see - it will not ...

Now my question is: how is it possible that Apple didn't noticed this ? The issue is very clear to see and happens steadily, it's not an "hidden" bug.

Anyway, I really hope that Apple will fix it very soon ...

You are a great theoretist, my friend. But as you may have noticed, there are at least 3 persons here who fixed the lag just playing with touchID. It's a mix of factors, I agree and I said that before, including at least both touchID and 128Gb module, but touchID settings alone somehow have the largest and confirmed in practice influence on the lagginess.

P.S./ I have a Tsmc chip and still it lagged hugely before I fixed it.

Mines pretty much instant now after iOS 9.1 it was was very laggy for about 24 hours, but I turned the wifi off for a while and noticed for me that the cellular notification bar appeared faster, then when I turned wifi on the lag was not present so much, now when I unlock my iPhone the notification bar appears almost but not quite instantly but its so fast I cant really tell what the lag is now and I have no lag opening apps and can use my camera from the lock screen instantly as well with no issue and I have not turned off siri suggestions. This is on an iPhone 6s 128GB. No idea what changed but it runs very smoothly now.
