Apple Server 5.0.4 Update SSL Re-direct fixed (if using Wiki)

Dear all,

If you have updated to the new Apple Server App. version 5.0.4 and now have no port 80 websites, but have a re-direct to either a non existent SSL website, or like me, a re-direct to your Wiki no matter what you do, I have a fix (courtesy of Apple Cover which I use and is worth every penny!).

1. To confirm, I already had a standard re-direct from port 80 non-SSL websites to port 443 SSL website set-up (best for security) for normal use. I also run the Apple Wiki service. After update to 5.0.4, all I got was the Wiki, unless I typed the exact path to my non Wiki website.

2. Make sure the Web service and the Wiki service are running!

3. To fix - open finder, in main menu (top of screen) select Go, then Go To Folder, then type /Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/other - click Go to open this folder, inside you will find a file called COM.APPLE.WEBAPP.WIKI.conf - which you need to re-name to COM.APPLE.WEBAPP.WIKI.conf_old (or whatever you like, as long as its different - don’t delete though, that’s not good practice). Note this file will not exist if the Wiki service is not running.

4. Hey presto - it all works...

5. Apple say a service update with a fix is coming soon, and this fix wont affect their fix (so many fixes - so little time :-)

Hope this helps

Thanks you so much! I just updated to 5.0.4 and immediately found this very issue. Your post has saved me a lot of time and frustration!

Thanks Dan! I've spent an entire afternoon trying to figure this one out. My setup is a bit complicated as I have two external domains redirecting to the machines native domains, one of which has a virtual server which lists the other as a virtual domain (the native domain also has a server). It all worked well except the additional domain kept landing on the wiki page.

It was tricky to find this page as first I had to figure out what the issue was before I could search the right terms. And Apple knew the answer all along..... 😠

Incidentally I'm running Server v5.2(16S1195) so it looks like the issue hasn't been resolved yet.
