iPhone 6s Distorted Sound

I Have iPhone 6s 64gb with 9.2 beta 3 and everything goes ad always: REALLY BAD!!! The upgrade doesn't solve anything

Ok not for your 6S. Very sad. More people with a 6 that are ok with beta 3?

I am running 9.2 b3 and iphone 6s. problem is not fixed. this could be fixed my firmware update perhaps. not counting on it. we need to get someone like marques on youtube to test it with his 3 million followers. 🙂

Hi Martijn .... have you tried Agnes Obel (Chord Left) and does it play perfect at 75-100% on your iPhone 6 or does it distort (like my 6S)?

If its perfect on your iPhone 6, I guess I'll send the 6S back and replace it with an iPhone 6 - fed up with the 6S now!

But my biggest test is I Will Remember from Toto. It has all the low and high you can imagine. It's running perfect now on iOS 9.2 beta 3 (13c72) on my iPhone 6 64 GB. This morning it was horrible so SOMETHING changed............

I think we are talking about two different issues between the 6 and 6s. The Toto song sounds ok on my 6s, check out the distortion on this bass guitar lesson. Before people jump to blame it on the low range of the bass itself,

I'm very disappointed over this issue as well. It seems like calling Apple for a replacement isn't really optimal because as things stand you run a very high risk of getting a 6s with the same issue. I'm not the type to get all worked up over which A9 chip my iPhone has, but I do expect a decent sounding speaker. Especially at the premium price point Apple charges for their phones. I just updated to the iOS 9.2 (Version 3) Beta, and the opening default ringtone crackling seems to be fixed, but other issues remain. It could just be the 6s has lousy speakers. Or other problems could be solved in future uodates. Either way, this isn't what I signed up for. Watching video on the xfinity TV app on my home wifi network makes me cringe, as do some YouTube videos, while others sound fine. It's quite strange. Logic tells me if the speaker was faulty then nothing would sound good on my phone, and that isn't the case. At least not in my particular situation. I hope it's software and not hardware. Accepting a refurbished device isn't something I'm willing to do anyways. Anyone have anything new to report regarding this situation?

I had a similar problem (or maybe the same - not sure) but when I'm texting someone back and forth, I hear a pop sound (like static) along with the tone. It's not the text message alert tone, it's the swoosh sound when you're having a conversation and it happens right at the end of the tone - on both the ones I send out and the ones I receive. If I reset my phone, it goes away for a few moments and then comes right back. I don't notice much of a problem with music, just this text tone. I took my phone the store last night (iPhone 6s) and they gave me a new one - couldn't really hear the problem due to the store being so loud, but here I am again, with the same annoying sound issue. I'm not so sure it's worth returning for a 3rd phone and going through the process of setting it up again.

I just stopped in an Apple store and tried a bunch of different devices both the iPhone 6s and 6S plus have the same sound issue. It could be heard to a certain extent on the iPad mini but not on the iPad Air. You can intensify the distortion by partially covering up the speaker holes which leads me to believe we're hearing a physical vibration caused by the sound pushing up against the resistance of the built-in holes. It would be nice if it were a software issue ...

I have an update as well. I've just gotten a chance to test out a relatives new iPhone 6, not 6s, and can confirm that the 6, which has an entirely different speaker assembly, also has static/distortion issues when playing this track on YouTube, which another poster here mentioned earlier (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbU31JLtlug). It sounds awful on both devices, and in exactly the same spots. But at least I can rule out the speaker on my 6s as the culprit. As for the opening default ringtone and the text sounds crackiling slightly, the update to iOS 9.2 beta yesterday seemed to resolve the issue. It's better now for sure, and I've tested it numerous times. If you have a 6s that's free of other issues just keep it and see what happens. Even without AppleCare you have a year warranty in which to replace the device should a hardware issue emerge. I'm a little disappointed the speaker doesn't sound as good as I'd like, but nothing is perfect I guess. Otherwise the phone is fantastic and the new 9.2 beta seems to make it run even smoother as the lag has been greatly improved upon while battery and overall performance remain great as well.

This problem is not a just a song on YouTube. its multiple audio samples. any podcast like security now. iTunes video like a tv show mr robot. with any male voice distorts 80-100% volume. I even tried ios 9.2 beta 3 and no improvement. so apples own apps like iTunes provide example of issue.. we know that 48 kHz is only sample rate allowed now and may be related to issue. apple needs to address this asap. 😟
