Contacts not syncing with Hyundai bluetooth

This may or may not be an iPhone problem.

It seems that ever since updating to iOS 9 my contacts no longer syncs through the Bluetooth to my Hyundai sound system. This has worked flawlessly up until now and everything else (streaming, phone calls, etc.) works just fine.

I don't really expect a fix but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or know what to look for.

The settings in the Elantra Bluetooth connection on my iPhone are set to sync contacts.

I have been having problems for the last year or so (either at the time I went from iphone 5 to a 6 or when my software was updated.) I did get a free software update from Hyundai yesterday but it made no difference in the way the numbers appear on the screen. Yes, it kind of looks like the car is interpreting a country code in front of the phone number. We tested the system yesterday with a number of android phones & they all worked perfectly including showing contact names on the screen. We tested 3 iphones & they were hit-and-miss. An iphone4 worked well & showed the contact name coming through (had old software). One iphone5 showed the correct phone number (310)444-5555 but did not show the contact name when it should have. The other iphone5 showed the number on the screen as 13-104-445555. Not sure if this is an Apple problem or that Hyundai hasn't updated the software for Apple updates.
