Large graphic novels crash iBooks in iOS 9

I have been having issues with 2 omnibus graphic novels (over 500 pages) that iBooks in iOS 9 is unable to handle.

After a certain page, if I go to the next page it will crash to the home screen. If my page is set to a higher page, it will crash on open, though if I change the page on a Mac and let it sync, it will load the earlier page.

I have tried everything from logging out of iTunes, to side-loading the books from iTunes on my Mac. The issue persists after I restored from an iTunes backup for a different issue. Updating to iOS 9.0.1 increased the page I was able to get to, though after using multitasking while opening the book, it crashed and again crashes on lower pages.

One of the books is a manga (read right to left) and the other is an American graphic novel and either way it crashes on the higher page number.

IOS 9 and it's update ...absolutely DO NOT work on my Ipad for a large image-heavy Ibook. I created a 500 page fixed layout Epub 3 (FXL Epub 3) that seamlessly opens and works in IOS 8. But this new OS won't even OPEN the book. So this is a big problem for authors and readers alike.

Apple....please FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY. There are many graphic novel readers. And nothing is more frustrating than to have something that worked fine....and no longer does in an "improved" upgrade. If you want to see a sample of what is crashing, just ask

Thank you-

Yes. Definitely not fixed for 9.1.......which is discouraging. I've sent in log files and videos showing the crash, and have gotten "thanks, really helpful info" emails....but don't know if they originated with the engineers or the go-between. My suspicion is the latter. And since this issue primarily affects readers of large graphic novels, the engineers will probably address this when they have nothing better to do. Perhaps I'll be happily proved wrong.

I sent another email to Apple support, since they never responded to my initial inquiry (other than the automated "we got your email and will be in touch within 48 hours" reply).

I'm still holding out on purchasing TWD Compendium 3 for this very reason.

It turns out TWD Compendium 2 seems to work fine on my macbook, but that is far from the preferred method for me to read my ebooks.

Anyone else heard back from Apple recently?

Same here.

I've been able to reach somewhere around page 850 without any problems, but then the crashing problem occurred.

I resynchronised my phone with iTunes and after I disconnected my phone it suddenly worked well again.

Later, when I reached page 898, I stopped reading and later I wasn't able to open it anymore.

I just deleted it from my phone and iTunes, resynchronized, re-downloaded and resynchronized again and it finally opened (and on the correct page), but the pages remained blank.

I closed and reopened iBooks and now again it crashes. Frustrating stuff.

I submitted a ticket for The Walking Dead Compendium 2. This is the response I just received:

Firstly, I hope you are doing well today.

I am contacting you as I have received word from our Investigation Team.

They have found errors with this particular iBook in the Store. Pages keep crashing and not loading properly.

They are working on a resolution as we speak. I cannot give you a confirmed resolution date as this may take a while.

As soon as I have further updates on this, I shall e-mail you.

Thank you for you patience here and have a wonderful day ahead.
