iPhone 6s Plus battery percentage getting stuck

My iPhone 6s Plus battery percentage gets stuck frequently. Like for example, it will say 87% all day, and then I'll plug it in for an hour, and it will still say 87%.

The only fix I've found is to power the phone off and then turn it back on. Then the percentage will update correctly, and will usually continue to update properly for awhile. But eventually it gets stuck again.

In the 3 days since it was delivered on Friday, I've had to reboot my iPhone 6s Plus at least four times to fix this issue.

Ok... Lirum Device Info Lite is the app. You don't need the full version. At the app's home screen next to Model: it will say either 2 things: N66AP (Samsung), or N66mAP (TSMC). Supposedly TSMC is the better and bigger chip with better battery life. If you play candy crush and change the time back and forth, your percentage will get stuck. Doesn't matter which chipset you have. But still, if you feel like you have been cheated by apple, feel free to get it swapped out at the store. Something tells me all replacement phones will have the TSMC chip... For me, I did feel like I was cheated especially after seeing some of the tech blogger's data which can show up to 20% better battery life with the TSMC chip... Going back to this original thread's issue, "time percentage getting stuck," it seems like it's a software issue which can/should be updated with a future update.

I was occasionally changing the date/time of my iPhone to get more resources playing games too. I don't think I can correlate the times I did it with the times my battery percentage would get stuck, but as a test, I refrained from jumping the date/time ahead all weekend, and did not experience the battery percentage getting stuck at all.

Hopefully Apple still fixes this. I was able to adjust the date/time on all my previous iPhones without having this issue. I'd still consider it a bug that needs fixing. Shoot, what if someone crosses the international date line in a flight from Asia to North America? They shouldn't have to reboot their iPhone to have a correct battery percentage reading. 🙂

I've had the same issue. Has anyone had this issue with any other iPhone besides the iPhone 6s? I do play candy crush and do the time change thing all the time. My girlfriend has an iPhone 6 on 9.0.2 and she does the same thing but has no pattern percentage issues. This made me think that it may be a hardware issue and not a software issue.

Sorry all for the late response. When I went to the Apple Store, they replaced the phone. No issues with the new phone phone now. They really were not able to provide any kind of explanation though. I recommend asking for a new phone and going for the best. I agree that it must be a software glitch, but unsure if apple will have a fix for it or not.

How long have you had the new iPhone? I could go quite awhile without experiencing the problem. It was always random. But it did stop completely once I stopped changing my date/time for gaming.

Hi, I also have the same problem with my iPhone 6s 16G, battery percentage getting stuck, stating it has 87% then turning off, also when recharging all night and showing battery only 57%, and having to reset phone every time to show correct battery percentage, phone crashing with a large amount of different apps, for example facebook causing phone to crash, each time requiring a reset. Have taken to apple store twice and discussed with online support and everyone telling me that the phone is fine and refusing to exchange phone. I feel like apple no longer cares for they're customers, they use to pride themselves on quality. Ive had no answers and given any solutions, sorry one solution and that's to do a factory reset, third reset now in two weeks from having phone, being told I don't know what I'm talking about. Does any one else have the same problems or is it only customer support issues at the Doncaster apple store in Melbourne Australia.

had the same problem with iphone 6s. went to apple store today told the guy about this problem... he didn't believe me since my phone was working today. then told him a bunch of other people had this problem, then he said he doesn't care about others.. and as for my phone, he couldn't figure out why it was doing that so he said just wipe everything clean -___-
