Is everyone who is having this battery indicator problem using the standard Apple charge cord? Or another brand? Was on chat with Apple today and he suggested that it's possible my charge cord (Monoprice Luxe) isn't very compatible and making the indicator askew. I've been using only the Monoprice Luxe since I got the phone and it could be an issue I suppose.
I actually was wondering about this. I use an Apple cable for charging at home/overnight—but I do use some off-brand cable for plugging my phone into the USB port in my car radio. My iPhone 6s is only seven days old, and this frozen battery meter issue has happened twice, and both times were shortly after I'd had my phone plugged into my car, via third-party cable.
Example: I had my phone plugged into my car radio with an off-brand cable on Saturday while I was out running errands, came home, and that evening I plugged my phone into my Apple cable to charge overnight. When I woke up, the phone was stuck on 42%. I restarted, and it showed 100%. Later that same day, the meter had only dropped down to 98%, so I restarted again and it showed the accurate charge of 54%. I didn't have occassion to use my phone in my car for the next several days—and my phone's battery meter worked perfectly. Then, yesterday, I had my phone again plugged into my car via the off-brand cable for my evening commute. Later in the evening, I plugged in my phone on my nightstand with my Apple cable and went to sleep. This morning, I woke up and checked my phone, and it was stuck again. I restarted and it went back to 100%.
It could just be an utter coincidence, but I was already wondering if my non-Apple cable was contributing this issue, since I've had various problems with off-brand cables before (sometimes my iPhones haven't recognized the cable, sometimes they recognize it enough to play music on my radio but not apply a charge, etc.). So now I'm even more curious about it, given onegymrat's post... Then again, I also play Candy Crush and change the time often, so it could be that. But the four days of perfect use while I was playing Candy Crush makes me wonder if that's really it.
Does anyone else who runs into this issue use an off-brand cable sometimes?
