New Shuffle appears and disappears in MY COMPUTER repeatedly.

...then eventually it crashes Windows XP. It worked fine the first couple of times I connected it to itunes...and now, nothing. I tried multiple usb ports and it does the same thing. Could it be a bad dock?

I'm having this weird but harmless issue too, except this is in my MacBook. At times, I would see my iPod shuffle icon appear on my desktop with no reason and no, I don't have disk storage enabled. Then I try dragging that icon to the the trash (eject). The result is the icon disappears but if I go back to iTunes (was still running in background), the iPod shuffle is still visible.

I just got my iPod shuffle and to keep it short, it's very small, nice aluminum, the music sounded like it got upgraded from the first generation iPod shuffle, and everything went smoothly in installing and recognizing the shuffle on my MacBook.

Well if its a bug that is good to know and I hope they fix it. Question though. Does your solution work to stop the pop up without enabling it as a drive. Also by the way this doesn't happen on my wifes PC but only on mine. The pop up prevents me from working so I had no other choice but to enable the disk drive, and I would prefer not to have to eject it all. My understanding is that if the disk drive is not enabled, then I don't have to eject it.

Thanks for the solution.
