Experienced the same thing just last night.
- Charged before sleeping.
- Woke up with black screen.
- Removed charger and plugged it in again to make sure.
- Still in black screen.
- Touched the Home Button (Burning Hot!)
- Did the hard restart
- Phone turned-on again. Since then, no occurrence yet.
I got late going to work because of the alarm not setting-off. First time that happened to me since purchasing like a month ago. On IOS 9.0.2. I guess not important since I've read some responses here that even on upgrade (9.2), issue still happens. I guess my next move is to go to my line service provider and ask for a replacement since I did not get my unit directly from Apple.
Any other suggestions?
Went to the Carrier where I got my phone and at first they reinstalled the software & firmware and told me to come back if I still have problems. Then after being forced to do 3 hard resets in order for the phone to boot, went back and got a replacement. No issues so far.
Sample Diagnostics:
1. iPad Air, 16GB, iOS 9.2, idle stat
2. Started new
3. Restored thro IPSW using iTunes
4. None
5. -
Major problem is it does not wake up most of the time even through force restart.
Works well in force restart when its shutdown while in ideal recently.
Wont boot at all when shutdown for longer period. ( Maybe battery dies soon ! )
Experienced similar problem with two day old iPhone 6s during "Verification" of updated I.O.S. Unable to switch off or continue with anything and no functioning buttons. Dropped to a black screen constantly. I left it for hours but could do nothing with it as it was stuck in this mode. A re-set seemed to do the trick and so far so good but it has only been 24 hours.
HI all,
I am experiencing the same problem since upgrade to 9.2.1 (iPhone 6S, 16go).
Tried almost everything.
Any issue? Any reply from Apple?
THanks.
Hi from Berlin Germany,
same problem with 9.2.1 (iPhone 6S, 16GB)
All upgrades before per WLAN

iOS 9.3 is save for resloved this problem? Im still stick on iOS 9.1
Happened to me today. I have an iPhone us running iOS 9.3.2.
Holding power button & home for 10seconds resolved for me.
Hello from Uruguay... I have an iPhone 6s (running iOS 9.3.4) that presents the "shutting down problem". I took it to an apple store (ArtComputer) and it was the same as not doing it... they said the iPhone presented no hardware problems and they wanted to charge me to restore it (when it was already restored as new iPhone, not from backup, before taking it there) though the iPhone is under warranty until October...
No good service from apple... No answers from apple here...
What's going on with apple these days?
Before taking it to the apple store I tried to fix it by myself by restoring as new, then I tried draining the battery to 0 and then charging it to full and a couple of hours more... and nothing...
This is ridiculous. my iPhone 6s is turning off randomly as well. And now with iOS 10 it is more commonn. I happened to me 3 times toda!!
Yup me too! I've got 128GB iPhone 6S and since the upgrade to 10, I'm experiencing the same problems. Today when my battery was at ~56% 😟
Hello to all,
yes same problem with my 64Go iPhone 6 iOS 10.0.2.
Stops randomly several times a day, with battery full, or drained in a matter of minutes just by looking at the screen...
Apple did the hardware tests: ok
I performed a reboot via iTunes like a new iPhone, no change.
I switch it off several times a week (apple said never shutting down the device leaded to 95% of the battery issues...), still no change.
The problem started a few weeks ago, never before since the beginning (1,5 years).
I'm sorry to say I can't remember if it started with the iOS 10 update or just before. I would say iOS 10 is the cause for me. My sister is having the same problem she's still running iOS 9 on her 6, 256Go.
You just can't rely on your phone, it's a pity, and I DON'T want to buy a new device, as I'm more and more disappointed with each new one...
😟
Been happening to my iphone 6s 128g since I "upgraded" to ios10 wasn't a prob on the last version of iOS 9
Apole needs an update to fix this issue ASAP.
was shutting down at 20% then 40ish, now it does it at around 58-60%
AS for battery meter being innacurate, I've had my iPhone plugged in shutoff overnight to refresh but that didn't help, tried draining it down as one suggested by turning it on plugging it in then unplugging it after its on and apps are closed etc., still does it certainly a software issue.
