iPhone 6s, iOS 9.0.1
I dont think its a hardware issue.
iphone 4, 5 and 6 users had this problems only with iOS 9 and 9.1 ...
So, this discussion has seen a report of an iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 doing the same, both at iOS 9.x.x. This seems clearly to point at iOS 9 and not a 6s specific hardware issue.
I have had my iPhone 6S 128gb running iOS 9.0.1 for less than two weeks. It has randomly shut down three different times since I received the phone. All the shut downs have occurred with 40% or more battery life remaining. I took the phone to the Apple store and they claim there is nothing wrong with it and that the issue is a result of not fully charging the iPhone battery and then letting it drain to 0%. Since doing that process, my phone has shut down twice more.
I just reset the phone to factory setting and upgraded to the iOS 9.0.2 this morning. Hopefully, that will fix the issue.
Yup, I'm experiencing the exact same problem on my new iPhone 6S 64GB and iOS 9.0.2.
Ditto. Woke this morning to find that my iPhone 6s was bricked even though it was charging overnight. It was 70 percent charged when I plugged it in. Pressing the power button did nothing. However, the phone responded after I held the home button and power button together for many seconds.
I’m running the latest iOS beta version.
same here. 6S, 64GB, iOS 9.1 Beta 3
Same issue here... Two hours late to work last Friday because it shut off overnight and my alarm didn't go off in the morning. Happened again Sunday morning. I have had every incarnation of the iPhone at this point, and never had to worry about this... Now I am afraid to rely on my phone for important things that I have always used it for.
Running 3rd public 9.1 beta on 64 gb iPhone 6s Plus setup from an iCloud Backup. It was plugged in overnight while I was asleep... Not even touching the phone when it shut down.
Happened to my newest iphone 6s plus 128 gb gold 4x times. Disappointed. Using 9.1beta3. Home button (TouchID) isn't hot during shutdown. But phone is dead and doesn't mean how much %% of battery is remaining still. Apple, do something or it will be my last iPhone... 😠 Huge problem to have a phone $1000 priced and such "child" unresolved bug
to keep thread Running:
no Problems with iPhone 5s and 6 Plus. Neither with iPad 4, Air, Air 2.
Only with iPhone 6s Plus.
with 9.0 one Crash, two with 9.0.1, one with 9.0.2 and again two with 9.1 latest public Beta.
shutdown when charging, shutdown when in garden...
hope that it is really fixable by software.
Same thing as everyone here - woke up late to a dead iPhone. Mine is a 128GB iPhone 6s Plus. It wasn't plugged in overnight, it was sitting by my bed. I had to use both buttons to restart it - once I did, the battery was still at 83% so it definitely didn't die because of that. Very, very annoying.
I've an iPhone 6s 128GB since day one and I never experienced this issue yet personally. I wonder if that the fact there are two different makers for the A9 SoC (Samsung and TSMC), may be in relation with this issue.
Indeed, mine is using a TSMC made Apple A9 chip, I checked this with this app: http://demo.hiraku.tw/CPUIdentifier/
I wonder if this issue in not related with the maker of the A9, and so that if it only occurs on Samsung made Apple A9 (as mine is a TSMC made one and didn't show this issue yet).
So i you experience this issue, can you check the maker of the A9 chip for your phone using the CPUIdentifier app, so we can see if it happens whatever Apple A9 maker is involved, or if it happens only on a specific Apple A9 maker (i.e: Samsung or TSMC).
Mine one is also a TMSC Model.
I called Apple today and they checked remotely my Phone without
finding a defect on the Phone.
He told me that I can also went to the Apple Store.
They can check the phone more deeper.
But I think it is not HW related, more Software.
so can more check their phones which cpu is insert ?
Same issue with iphone 6s Plus 64GB bought in Germany..
Wo gekauft in Deutschland ? Ich in Sindelfingen
I have TSMC A9 6s+ 64GB it happens just once, so I restore phone in DFU to 9.0.2 and setup as a new phone now no problem since 6 days.
