no mail sounds after installing El Capitan

It only happens when a new message is delivered into the default inbox without any rule applied.

Just to be clear, each account has it's own Inbox. There is no default Inbox. The top Inbox is a unified view of all your Inboxes. It's simply a smart folder to view all inboxes as one. It's not an actual folder.

I'm not sure where no rules applied comes into this. Are you saying that in this beta version the audio alerts for POP accounts now works for incoming posts, both yea and nay alert sounds, unless you have a rule in the mix?

I see that 10.11.2 beta 5 was released yesterday, I hope we soon this issue resolved.

We are the only ones reading these discussions. I do not believe that Apple reads them.

My incoming mail sound has disappeared also. So annoyed with OS10.11.1

I think that Apple DOES read these discussions, but fixing a bug will sometimes lead to something else going wrong so they have to be careful. Still, it has been long enough. This should have been rectified by now and I agree, it is extremely annoying.

This may not have any bearing on the issue, but I recently got rid of my Mac mini and am now using a brand new iMac. The missing email notification sounds are still missing. The only place I hear them is on my iPhone.

Oddly enough, I just received two emails from Apple and the Mail sound on my iCloud account. However, I have other accounts with my ISP and those have no mail sounds.

At last. Could you let us know if the mail sound error is corrected. After all of these problems I'd like to be sure that all is well before I take a leap into the unknown! 😁

Not entirely true!!!! New posts actuate the audio alert, but there is no rersponse if you click on Get Mail and there's no incoming. So, we got part of it fixed. 8-l

I'm quite happy with that. I was missing the 'Bing' from incoming mail. Not sure I quite understand what you mean when you say there's no alert when there is no incoming mail. Do you mean that the deep 'Buzz' sound is missing, when there is nothing to open. If so, I'll willingly settle for that. Thanks for the 'Heads-Up!'

Yeah, maybe............., I don't recall the exact sound that no new posts used when you clicked on Get Mail, but it isn't making any sound right now. At least we have the alert for new posts, so I suppose half a loaf is better than no loaf........

Now installing iOS 9.2........

My result is bizarre: no sound if there is no incoming mail. If there is, the usual incoming mail sound does not play -- until I send a new message, in which case the incoming mail sound plays immediately.
