When I updated to Sierra I couldn't access iCloud on any device including my computer. Couldn't access iTunes to download music. The Apple techies said the server was busy. Not.

Finally realized it was because I had VPN (PIA-Private Internet Access) on all my devices. I had to delete the app from all devices and reboot and then was able to gain access to iCloud. Haven't done a re-install of VPN yet.

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is marked solved and is a couple of years old, less people are likely to look at it. A new post would be much more visible. You can link to this one.

In the new post, try running this program in your normal account , then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy Report” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

I am getting this same message on my iPod touch 5th gen. Every time I try to log in to iCloud and iTunes I keep getting this message "Verification failed: There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server."

Now I did restore my iPod and went through the recovery mode then updated it and everything but only to find out the issue is still there. I also tried "Reset Network Settings" but I had no luck.

I really hope I can get answers that can help.

In my case didn't work. After reading your solution I downloaded a trial version of Kapersky and did what you mentioned... two things come to my mind: maybe you need the full paid version and does not works with the trial one, or you need to install kapersky before to this issue happens, not after. It was a great idea, after all, and seems that works for others. Ty

Thank you thank you thank you very much!!!

After a month looking for a solution for this, yours worked as a charm!!!!:
I didn't have Avast (I have Kapersky instead, but did not worked for this), so I uninstalled Kapersky, dl a trial version of Avast. As soon as Avast completed installation I followed all the steps you mentioned and now everything works fine!!!

Awesome news. It's really frustrating that this isn't a "known" issue for the antivirus developers. While it could lead to a hole that could be exploited by hackers/script kiddies, it would be nice to know (maybe from Apple?) that if you get this error, turn off any real-time web protection just long enough to get to the Apple ID server. Side note: I'd also suggest people reboot and run with no browsers before doing the disabling of your choice of AV solution. :-)

Without having Kapersky, this has been frustrating me for 4 hours now. I can access online Apple ID, however on other devices it keeps giving me the 'cannot connect with Apple Id Server' message all the time. Last night everything was working spiffingly well and has been for ages now.

It won't let me log into iCloud settings on my MacBook Air too, or iMessage.

Two years after this original question and I am having the same problem on my laptop (2016 13" Macbook Pro). I can connect from any other account on the machine, just not mine. I tried booting into safe mode but still the same problem. I moved all files out of ~/Library/Preferences and rebooted; still the same problem. I am not using Kaspersky. I tried disabling two-factor authentication, still no go. Since it works from other accounts on the same machine it is not a clock/network/firewall issue. This is extremely frustrating. It started today but nothing was changed/installed recently. Any other ideas/suggestions?

Hi,

First Please check your Mac book date and time settings and ensure that those are correct

Second, check your wifi router/ADSL/whatsoever router's date and time settings and should match with your mac book system time settings.

Most of the routers have "Copy computer date & time settings" option, better use that option to set your wifi routers date & time settings..

boom..

Now your are able to contact Apple ID server with out any problems.

if you still facing problem, change wifi router or else try to connect your mobile hotspot, your problem solved..

So i fixed mine and I had the same problem.. this is what I did.. it may work for you as well. Go to System Preferences > Network.. make sure wifi is connected. Then click on advanced. Go to the tab that says “TCP/IP” make sure by the configure ipv4, it says “Using DCHP”.. this means it is retrieving an automatic ip address (your router) rather than a manual IP address..

I’m sorry to hear that you are having these issues with iCloud; I know how frustrating that can be. iCloud can sometimes be a bit complex to configure, even for experienced users, so lets see if we can’t narrow it down a bit:

1. Can you describe in a bit more detail what you are seeing when you try to connect to iCloud? Any messages or errors?

2. What window are you in when trying to connect? (There are iCloud configurations and settings in several different system preferences and applications)

3. Are you seeing any specific alerts or messages related to iCloud when you try to use your files or applications? If so, what is the exact text?

Thank you for your time, and with your help we should be able to get this resolved for you.

I have the same issues that dsaenz28 (I've also the same laptop). When i submit my ID and password, there is always an error that says "There was an error trying to connect to Apple ID Server". It happens always in all the apps that uses iCloud, such us Apple music, iTunes store and app store. Nevertheless, i'm able to connect to iCloud Online.

Hope this fix soon.

Thank you so much for your help.
