Problem with iMovie on El Capitan

After installing to day new El Capitan OS... without any problem

In iMovie, I lost all my "Cinema" copy movies , I mean the transferred "cinema" one. All original ones were there !

I've tried to get back the cinema movies with Time Machine, but the file copied were the "Library" movies

Then a new problem appear: Can't delete completely the imported file

Any tips ?

I also have a similar problem. All my Theater movies are gone...

However my iPhone and iPad shows all my movies in the app but its struggling to play them only showing me the buffering animation.

I can reupload 2 out of 13 of my videos but if they exist somewhere I would rather wait.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Same problem and still no fix in sight because Apple has moved on with iMovie and left 9.09 users with a broken product that intermediate editors can not use.

A down and dirty work around to the black still picture problem with imovie 9.09 and El Capitan, if you are currently editing a project, you can pull the still photo or document up into Preview window, launch a screen capture product like Viola that can capture video from the screen. Set to record a region - set the region the still picture and hit record for about 8 secs, stop recording and move the now video clip into a folder and then drag and drop to iMovie. Now the "still" video will be visible.

When I tried to add a title to a clip - iMovie crashed - no fix for that problem - looks like the iMovie Pro/Am editors will have to pay and learn to use FCP to kill the mouse with an elephant gun.

Or the best way - get a copy of Yosemite and wipe your hard drive and reload Yosemite and your apps - hopefully all your current projects and events are on external drives.

Friend is wailing of similar problems since I updated her iMac to El Capitan (at her request because she bought new iPhone 6Plus that requires El Capitan). Was just looking at http://www.iskysoft.com/video-editing/failed-to-edit-videos-with-imovie-on-mac-o s-x-el-capitan.html

If I can't sort a fix for her I thought that might be worth a look.

Other solution I thought might be to use Virtual Box and put earlier OSX system in there along with earlier copy of iMovie that she is used to).

Onion6270 Did you ever find an answer?

I have just "upgraded" to El Captain and my iMovie 11, vs 9.0.4 no longer shows any of my photos in the preview. It shows the photos in the thumbnails and that is all. The photos are seen in the thumbnails only. And they do not "reveal in finder" anywhere.

My photos originated in iPhoto, which is now replaced by Photos without my decision to do so.

So, have you been successful?

Like all the other's on here, I had same problem after upgrading to elcapitan. Imovie will not display still photos unless you convert them to a movie type file like MP4, and that is a lot of hastle, you need a program to convert them. I have spent hours to make a short video of still pictures. this used to take minutes with the old system. ive given up on imovie now and got "MOVIE EDIT PRO" from the app store and it works a treat. its free to try, but leaves a watermark on you movies, so i purchased the full version. its not expensive. but it grieves me to have to pay for something that i could do for free until apple upgraded there system.... or should i say downgraded..
