OS X Could Not Be Installed on Your Computer!
OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)
.......
I am having the same problem with no clear path to getting back to a working computer. Seems Apple has now caught up to Microsoft
How do you get to recovery when the installer keeps trying to run and fails.
MacAir Mid 2013 and no the command R does not seem to work
got to recovery but got "error occurred while preparing the installation" when I tried to reinstall Yosemite
after speaking with apple support, they had me erase my HD & use my Time Machine to get my info back.. i will try again to reinstall this afternoon.
My problem was that it couldnt read my HD for some reason. After reformatting it was able to get reinstalled without an issue.
These problems could be a sign that disk drive is dying. I suggest you keep a close eye on it for any errors and also make sure you have plenty of current backups.
I'm getting this error too. So reformatting is the only solution to this problem?
Yes, I would try reformat and install EC.
it was for me, hope you had time machine running. But hot dang has the clean install done wonders for my old gal...
I ended up reformatting my Macbook Pro, more than 2 years of my personal files now gone, 😟
You have never tried to use backup software to protect your data?
You are the only one that can be blamed for your lose of data since you did not implement a backup plan.
So my MBP has been running awesome.. the only issue now is that it turns off randomly.... Time to call apple again....
Got the same on a 2015 Mac mini when trying to install Sierra. I ended up having to wipe the drive in recovery mode and reinstall El Capitan. This was a 500 GB HDD. Lost all data.
