ios 9.0.2 update -> Now touchscreen problems!

I updated my iPhone 5s 64g to iOS 9.0.2 from 9.0.1 last night over wifi, immediately the phone started misregistering my finger press and touch locations. The screen now intermittently opens apps, fails to allow the keyboard to be used correctly, will register touches when I am not even touching the phone. I had the phone in a lifeproof case (nuud) with screen protector (yes this is how it's supposed to be done!) - after the errors began I tried removing the case, removing the screen protector, and hard resetting the phone - this is NOT a hardware issue!

Hard resetting the iphone will sometimes clear the issue for a few minutes, then it begins again sporadically and intermittently - yet often enough that it is a huge headache to deal with. I can now pretty much only reliably use my phone through siri, and only then if I can get the phone to unlock from a hard reset! I spoke to apple support via chat, they recommended that I backup to icloud and restore the phone as "new iphone" and then only to restore data from the icloud backup. I made an appointment with my local "genius" bar (ugh do I hate saying that) though since this device is now outside of the 1 year warranty & applecare, And even though the update caused the error they will likely only replace the device with a replica for $269...

SUPER FRUSTRATED AT YOU APPLE!!! Give us a way to roll back these failed updates!!!

Update: When the iphone is plugged in to my macbook pro the touchscreen problems completely go away! possible emergency stop-gap solution... may as well tape my iphone to my macbook and walk around with it boombox-style. That's true apple swag.

Same here. Have it for a while already, on my iPad. I thought it's a Trojan as it only comes up when you connected to the Internet. Basically I am not using the device anymore until there is new firmware - would really be glad if that would happen soon.

Found this workaround for the frozen lock screen problem but:

"If your screen stops responding to touches and swipes, you’ll want to hold down the power button and home button at the same time. Wait for the phone to reboot and then try to use your screen like you normally do.

If it doesn’t work the first time, try it again until it works. It took three resets for our screen to start working again." Source http://www.gottabemobile.com/2015/11/18/ios-9-problems-fixes/

I have an iPhone 6 and I am having the same issues described in this thread after the 9.0.2 update. I don't touch the screen, and it looks like someone else is using my phone. Different apps open, typing in messages, random calls are made. I try to reset the phone and it rarely fixes the issue for only a brief period of time. This is unacceptable.

iPhone 6 plus owner here.

I'm so done with my iOS device. Ever since upgrading to 9.0.2 I've had nothing but trouble with the touchscreen. Things like the screen not responding to multiple inputs while playing Madden Mobile. It's a joke. I'm moving to Android once my contract expires next year. Apple has really lost their quality control here. Fix it ASAP!

It's January 1st, 2016 and this EXACT same problem has occurred with my iPhone 5c. It started happening right after IPSWU 9.2

What am I to do? Its a shame that we buy something in hopes of it being reliable and yet as we take care of it and give it an update from the people we bought it from it destroys it and we are held liable. What a waste of money.

I have a keyboard problem as well. IOS 9.0.2 iPhone 6S plus. Was fine until the update. The keyboard is very erratic. Typing causes other apps to open and or close, or type letters I didn't type. The touchscreen can be unresponsive. I've never had it make a call. This only happens when I'm actually trying to type on the keyboard in any way, no matter the app.

What seems to have worked (I tried all the suggestions, and I've NOT dropped my phone or damaged it in any way) was turning off the 3D. It's only been a few hours of use, but it's not been jumping all over the place since. I'll update and follow this thread. I read the issue persists in Beta 9.1 so I don't expect a fix anytime soon. It makes the phone unuseable really.

I've been having this problem for a while, since 9.0. I've stepped through each version of the iOS update since, including 9.3.x betas, and into 9.3.1 few days ago. The problem started to get really bad in betas 9.3.0 beta 1, beta 2, but stablized in beta 3 and 4, and then came back in the final beta AND in 9.3 and 9.3.1 releases, with 9.3.1 being the worst of it al!!! It started to randomly touch app icons, type texts, answer emails etc - it even went into my Via app after I ordered a Via ride, and almost submitted a $50 credit pull from my credit card! I was so frustrated I tried downgrading to 9.2.1 only to find the same issue happening after a few touches - nothing worked! I became anxious with my iPhone and if I take it to Apple and the refuse to fix it (my warranty expired - but I spent $950 plus taxes on this ****** 128G 6+!!!), I would never buy another Apple product again!!

I scheduled an appointment with Apple today, explaining to the the issues and they would not honor any warranty help since my phone is out of warranty. I spent 1.5 hours with two techs and two managers - in the end, the best the came up with was to offer me $200 credit for my 128GB 6+, and asked me to lock into their early-upgrader's plan where the cost of the phone + AppleCare is divided up into 24 monthly payments, requiring a minimum of 12 payments before an upgrade is allowed). Essentially, not only did they not fix their engineering issue in a customer's hand, they instead tried to loop me into a perpetual monthly payment of $45 to replace my phone with a 6s Plus equivalent. What happened to customer service? I told them this will be the last Apple product I'll ever buy!! I will reload/restore it and use my 5s as my backup, and will spend not another dime at Apple.

This issue now is only consistently happening if the phone is plugged in to a charger. I often use it plugged in. I also notice when I plug into the car charger, my radio is all static. Nada. My battery must be disrupting things? Otherwise, I have no keypad issues unplugged. It sounds like a separate issue for some of you.

iPhone 6s Plus (so those of you being pushed into upgrades, that many not necessarily work).

iOS 9.3.4 (updated a couple of days ago, still not fixed)

Good luck, everyone.
