iPad 2 and iOS 9

I currently am using an iPad 2 (purchased 2011) and iOS 8.4. I should have stayed with iOS 7, but my iPad is useable with iOS 8, with some quirks. I installed iOS 9 on my iPhone 5c and have had no problems yet. I am hesitant to install iOS 9 on my iPad 2, since it is at the bottom of the list of older iPads that iOS 9 is supposed to be compatible with. I/ve just gotten used to dealing with iOS 8 glitches, and I don't want to find out that iOS 9 is going to cause major problems, since I couldn't go back to iOS 8 after installatinon. Does anyone have a similar situation and/or has anyone installed iOS 9 on an older iPad 2. If someone has installed iOS 9 on iPad 2, have there been any problems. I know that iOS 9 improved the performance of my iPhone 5c versus how well my phone was working with iOS 8. But your're talking apples and oranges trying to compare an iPhone 5c/iOS 9 performance versus an old iPad 2/iOS 9 performance. Just saying....

I also have the iPad 2 and am now running iOS 9.0.1. I'm currently in here trying to find out how to downgrade back to iOS 7 or 8. I thought 8 was bad, but my iPad is almost useless now for anything other than reading and maybe Facebook and email, but even those are so slow it's pitiful. Internet surfing is impossible. There is an awful lag in typing in the search bar or anywhere else, and it crashes constantly. From what I've read, Apple doesn't want us to be able to go back to a lower iOS. We are just supposed to run to the store and buy a new, current device. Bah...

In short, if I were you, I would NOT update iOS ever again. Good luck!

So it looks like there have been numerous problems with iOS9.....and a new version is being released today!!

As I said. One response on a Discussion Group probably means there are a thousand more.

I just wish I could go back to iOS 8.4.3 when everything was working well. Possibly there is still a way as I have the IPSW file, but Apple will not authenticate it. VERY SADLY SO. My but they are arrogant. Almost forced selling like door-to door visitors pushing their product. I have 2 iPhone 4Ss and 2 iPad 2s that are sluggish and frustrating to work with, but I cannot afford to buy a whole lot more hardware for my family when all that is needed is a simple software/firmware fix!!

If anyone here wants real Apple employees to ACTUALLY read about your own individual iPad issues,

you can post your feedback here.

The only way to get Apple designers and engineers to listen to you is to use their feedback portion of their website. Apple DOES read the feedback, but they still do not respond with any personal replies.

Don't do it! Apple's update has completely ruined my iPad2, and I didn't get anywhere trying to put it right. Apple should be paying compensation for what they have done, but they won't of course. My iPad worked perfectly and I wish I had left well alone. Now, I have so many problems that this expensive piece of equipment is useless. I will not be buying another Apple product.

At your point, I think you have nothing to lose, but try the recent update.

My advice with how to proceed with iOS updates still stands for a chance at a positive result.

Ideally, your iDevice should maintain a minimum free storage amount of 4- 6 GBs or greater on any iDevice (the more free space, the better) , plus, more than 50%-60% battery status to ensure proper operation, as well as, to ensure the possibility of a successful iOS upgrade/update installation.

In addition it is best to upgrade an iDevice connected up to a computer running iTunes with you iDevice sync'd and backed up through iTunes rather than Over The Air (OTA) using a wireless WiFi connection.

If possible, avoid upgrading/updating over Wifi or Cell network.

TThank you, Michael. I have downloadEd the latest update. It hasn't made my iPad any worse, and one or two issues are a little better. Still not good enough for what I use it for though. As you can see, unwanted capital letters keep appearing. I have defected to the other side and bought a Samsung Galaxy. As I can still use the iPad for some things, I will hang on to it. Thank you for your help. Eileen

The capital letter issue is part of a glitch in the Apple Community forum software.

This is not part of an iPad or iOS issue.

Anyone posting here will encounter the double capitalization issue.

That glitch has been here since the last rebuilding of these forums.

Annoying? Yes, but has nothing to do with iOS or Apple hardware.

Good Luck in Androidland as I think, over time, you'll encounter many more issues, including having to battle with mobile viruses and malware (of which Android is up to thousands of viruses and malware, now)

Good Luck to you in your future endeavours.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. Once i installed ios 9 a previously perfectly working ipad was junk.

I have no wifi anymore and without wifi, the ipad is only good as a chopping board.

the apple store offered me a new ipad 2 for EURO 240 but this will probably have the same issues.

the option of replacing the "chopping board" with a newer ipad is quite expensive.
